Oh noes!
Sprayed with DEET? :D
Supposedly the AWM's took care of that.
Wow

What kind of chemical did the lancer not like so much?

I *think* that I read somewhere in another subforum that he used some sort of
paint stripper
on the magazine whilst attempting to paint the magazine brown.
This was the result.
ETA: Yeah, it's in the fifth post in this thread:

Thanks, that's a rather crap thing to do, start a thread like this without disclosing what chemical he used.

Wonder if he used MEK, that stuff will attack just about any kind of polymer.

.....
Agreed.

I dont know what chemical I used. I through that shit away. It was some kind of paint remover in a spray can, which some asshole posted (on another forum) worked well on polymer magazines.
Nowhere did I blame lancer or the materials they use? Please tell me how this thread is bad. I posted my failure and said even though I ruined the surface it functions fine?

I dont know, I will have to look through my history, but that was weeks ago. It was some kind of paint remover with a "fancy" name. As in it wasn't named "Paint Thinner" but had some weird name.
It was in a spray can.
Why did I not respond to this thread? Because I didn't subscribe to it, and only saw it in the active topics

God you people are impatient and draw crazy conclusions.

Dont know why some of the other posters where bashing you,nor did I think you where bashing on Lancer.
I wasnt drawing any concluisons.
I was just curious about what kind of chemical it was,I figured it was probably something along the lines of "Industrial" ,'Remover" or "Thinner".
I agree I bet it still works perfect.

If you post a pic like that, and then say "Not as chemically resistant as I thought", that leaves it wide open to rumors and speculation about what was used, and how prone to failure they might be. It's not that hard to understand.
Well whatever, I guess my thought process is different. In my mind that phrase means "be careful what you put on your mags, and you want look like an idiot like me" Here are some specifics to ease everyone's minds...
1) I used some sort of paint removed that comes in a spray can and comes out as a foam. (I was told it was ok with polymer)
2) This stuff stayed on the mag for over 10 minutes
3) It made < .5mm of the polymer gooey , the polymer did reharden, but I was picking at it.
4) I stippled the mag and it DOES work flawlessly.
5) I think I need to stipple the rest of the "melted" area because it still looks bad with the paint on it.
For Future reference, if you want to remove paint from polymer mag, use citristrip. I used it on my magpul stuff and another lancer mag and it works perfectly. Its not a super harsh chemical mix like other things. I used the gel and a stiff brush and everything came off perfectly.

That. Heck, the VERY FIRST reply (to which you did NOT respond in your subsequent post) was, "Oh noes! Sprayed with DEET? :D Supposedly the AWM's took care of that." Had you meant your post to be informative, you would have said that you'd messed it up with paint stripper.... which is not terribly surprising as most paint strippers are pretty hostile to plastics. You might as well have hit the magazine with a MAPP gas torch and then posted, "Not as heat resistant as I thought."

That
is good information. Thank you.
Was it Loctite Chisel?
Note: Loctite Chisel is the only thing that i know of that will make dried Loctite threadlockers turn into nothing but a color in minutes.

No I threw it away and I really dont know what it was. It was in a spray can and comes out as a foam.
