These are pics from the REAL source of SPRs, I was only invited for the weekend, these have nothing to do with me or adco.
If you see a pic of an SPR in action, this is where it came from, and what it went through.
Lots of little things done to test/prep the barrel, and other small parts but that’s boring........
Gotta have barrels

And upper receivers

Torque, check and retorque the barrel nut

Install the gas block and gas tube

Install the locking pins for the FF RAS

Tighten the screws on the gas block

Install the OPS INC collar

Snug up the OPS INC brake

Check headspace

Uppers ready to test fire(note lack of fancy bolt carrier)

Load the mags

Locate the targets, 12” steel plates 340yds into the woods, through the leaves.

Test fire!

Bore sight? Nope, a team scope works just fine, follow the trace and correct as necessary.

Looking at the shooting position from the target area.

After a successful test firing, the OPS thread protector is installed and they are ready to go.

Nice pics, darn do you have one pic with the ss barrel for comparison. By the way I sent my order last 2 days ago. Thanks. Larue Forend on your way via Grant (G&R Tactical). That's a lot of uppers are those all spoken for?

some pics of SS here - http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=7&f=22&t=190126&w=searchPop
The barrels pictured above are not mine, they are the real deal, on their way the real Operators. The ones I list are just look a likes, and very similar.
I miss all the fun.
shooting at the tin can too eh'
cool
Can this source sell the real deal to civilians?

Steve,
What process do they use to insure the OPS INC brake is properly indexed?
Looked like in another pic they used crush washers with the brakes. On a trial fit with a clone barrel, I thought using a crush washer didn't allow the muzzle to be in the proper location very close to the baffle chamber.

The crush washer is test fit, and when necessary(usually necessary) material is removed from crushwasher until the brake is just "snug", then 262 holds it in place. Theres actually a long story behind that - I'll have to fill you in when you get back. BTW - this is the Cmdrs friends place.
Interesting stuff.....thanks for sharing Steve.

It must really suck, having to zero those rifles all the time. I'm sure he gets tired of it.
If I didn't like my job roofing and pouring asphalt in August, I would send in an Application for Employment...

Thanks for sharing the process. Glad they're going to good use.

loctite 262 threadlocker. pictured below sitting on the vise. once it sets up you usually have to heat the crap out of it to get the part back off. in general, use loctite "blue" if you want to get it back off sometime without too much trouble (e.g. scope mounts and the like), and loctite "red" if you *never* want it coming off by itself (trailer hitch ball is a good example).
ar-jedi

where does one get a job test firing those?!
Absolutely outstanding!

I also collect M1s, so of course!
so after your visit, will you be changing anything you do with your SPR builds?
BTW thanks for the 411 on the 262

It changed how I'll be building them. I learned several new tricks to make things easier.
What's required to install the suppressor collar? It looks like he's using an allen wrench to drive a screw home. If so, do the barrels need to be drilled to accept the screws?

A set screw and 262. The barrels dont have anything special for attaching the collar, just a step in the contour for it to mount up against to insure proper placement.
