Before he goes to bed at night the boogeyman checks under his bed to make sure Chuck Norris isn't there.

Got a new one for small game - I just finished it up a few weeks ago.
As seen in the raccoon thread, but now it has a front sight and a flash hider. |

I'd like that. But that's not the truth. The truth is:

THe green has a faded look to the edges.....How did you do that? What scope do you have? Since you have both front grip and bipod, have you considered the grip pod or T-pod? You would then have room for your hand on the handguard. http://www.fab-defense.com/en/category-bi-pods/id-158/tactical-foregrip-bipod.html http://www.grippod.com/ |

Thanks.... I just swiped the green over the scope while spraying and it faded in by its self.
The scope is the Leapers Accushot T168. It is on the lower end of the price range, but performance has been exceptional. Light, Fixed 6X power.. which i've been told is fine for practical coyote ranges. Wide field of view. illuminated recital, holds zero when remounted. http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/SCP615-1.html They say that it's no longer available... hummmm!!! I thought about a grip pod.. The harris is not that heavy and the legs can be adjusted for camber. I know the for-grip doesn't serve much of a purpose.. just looks cool I guess... well I take that back. I Went on a hunt the other day on snowmobiles and I was riding with the carbine upright across my lap and squeezing the pistol grip and the front grip with my legs while sitting down, worked pretty well to keep it in place. I'm just rambling. DPMS Kit lower DPMS Lower parts kit Any ideas on a nice adjustable single stage trigger? CMMG 16" M4 upper 1/7 Specter SOP 3pt sling DPMS Mangonel BUIS Man I can't wait for my first yote!! Might have to keep the pelt |

Rizzo... Did you bake that Krylon job or just spray and go?

The thing I love about it is that I can touch it up or change it whenever I see fit, or just wash the whole thing off. I've used Krylon on my shotgun, mags, my hunting ladder, and even some nylon gear, and the stuff is great. Really holds up - and I'm not necessarily "nice" to my gear. |

Cool... That's what I figured. Plus the nicks and scratches all a lil character!!

Is it actually "Krylon" or another brand? What colors did you use? |

Hey WW.... It is the Krylon Camouflage line and I used Khaki and Olive. I'm in eastern Idaho and there is a lot of willows and sage, especially central Idaho in the desert / lava flats. I will know in the spring summer how well this color will blend in overall. We just have soo much snow that the only way to get out in the fields is by snow shoe or snow machine. I've seen a ton of track in the snow... I'm just trying different tactics on bringing dogs out!

If you're keeping shots inside of 100 yds, and you're confident with the sight, then go for it. I know a guy that hunts very successfully with his EOtech. |

Sounds like a good plan to me. I have a 4 MOA Aimpoint and it works pretty well...2 MOA would probably be better. |

thanks, for your opinions. I post up some pictures soon.
right now I have a high country scope on it. and have the aimpoint soon. |
|
|
I thought about buying an Eotech a little while ago, I almost got one but then I decided that it just isn't practical for me. If you're going to be shooting inside 100 yards though then it would be great, just make sure you get a small dot. I would get the 2 MOA dot over the 4, and look at the Eotechs too because they make a reticle with a 1 MOA dot and then a 65 MOA circle around it, that's what I liked the most.

Mama, I'll see you again tonight in my head movies. But this head movies makes my eyes rain!
|
I haven't gotten anything living with my AR yet, only had it a week but it's a EE lower, Oly 16" upper, and a Simmons scope. Looking for a bipod and I will be out to take the snapping turtle/water moccasin population at my friends ranch again.
http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i292/jaysensing/DSC_0084.jpg Up until now, I've been sniping the random water pests with a .17 HMR but it was a PITA to headshot turtle from long distances over water, the slightest deviation was a miss or a ricochet off the shell because it just didn't have the energy. |
|
|
Snapping turtles with your AR? That's a new one - post some pics for sure when you get some!
|
|
|
then cut a piece of turtle out and send it to rizzo to taste and report back on :D

I'll keep the grill hot!

Here's mine.
Hasn't killed anything yet, but will soon. http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p162/CWisBOi93/004-6.jpg There will be a bipod and a verticle grip on it soon. |
|
|
Why do you want a VFG? I find that for hunting they just get in the way, and bipods, unless you are shooting from a static position, like p-dogs or such, are just extra weight. That's my point of view as a predator hunter, anyways.

The VFG is just more comfortable to me, I guess..
And the bipod is just something to have, I guess it makes sense about getting in the way. |
