hey guys, i'm going to report to Armor BOLC at Ft. Benning GA on 29 NOV 2015.  I live in St. Louis, MO.  I was wondering, what's the best place to get the new OCP ACUs?  Should I wait to get them until after bolc? should i just get one set now, and wait to get the rest until after? I am allowed to use either the UCP ACU or the OCP ACU, and i have 3 serviceable sets of the original UCP stuff.  Should I buy it at benning? Or should I drop by Ft. Leonard Wood now, so I have them when I show up?

Wear UCP until you can buy when you get to Benning.
There is no rush, and I really don't think the drive from St. Louis to Fort Lostinthewoods is worth it.
Wear out date for the UCP is years away.
Do your orders have something weird in them about requiring OCP for in-processing?

no, i just don't want to stand out.  if everyone else is wearing OCP i don't want to be that guy that sticks out not wearing it.  eh not a big deal, and i'm probably going to destroy several sets of ACUs in the field, so I might as well just pick up some decent condition used UCP ones at a military surplus store and be done with it.

ETA: Not at Benning, don't know everyone is wearing there.



You're a butterbar you are going to stand out. Even if you are salty, You will stand out.

I didn't want to say that you shouldn't buy OCP.
I meant that if you have serviceable uniforms, that are still authorized, you shouldn't  go out of your way to buy OCP. You are going to need your initial issue allowance for your ASUs (don't skimp) so don't spend money on field uniforms until you need to.
When your UCP ones croak, buy OCP because you will be in the Army after the UCP wear out date, unless you screw up.

Leonard Wood Clothing Sales won't get OCP until sometime between October-December.  Probably closer to December from what I'm hearing.  They have OCP patches and rank but not uniforms yet.

Leonard Wood should be getting them 1 Nov or shortly after according to the roll out plan.
