Ok, a short history of my service, did 6 years in National Guard 2005-2011 and was honorably discharged.

Used some of my GI Bill while in between 2007-2009, remember the VA site when I did my monthly enrollment saying I had to this year(2015) to use it.

Was never deployed during my service. Before I got out I stopped working out, ate to many fatty cakes and gained some weight and was eventually flagged for weight/tape.

So now I'm trying to go to CDL school and might drive OTR for a couple years to see if I like it, but the VA says I can't use my benefits cause of the flag I got while in.

Now my GI Bill would be the only way I can afford to pay for the schooling at the moment and was wondering what I should do?

Should I go talk to my local VA rep? Call the VA?(not something I want to do) or did I fuck myself over before I got out?

No flag while you were in would affect your GI Bill with an honorable.

You used some GI Bill month while you were still in?

And it expiring in 2015?  Montgomery expires 10 years after last date of discharge.  Something is not adding up.

Best to call the GI Bill office that services your area.  Most people are handled via Muskogee but since you are in New York it might be different.   Just call them to find out what is up and obtain a new certification letter.

Make sure you have your honorable and NGB22 to get the benefits you deserve.  I am working with the VA right now for 2nd VA loan and they are pretty sorry.  The VA from one state can not send many documents to other states without a written request.  The whole VA system needs to be a nationalized and not state to state - if you need your records it should not be such a cluster F#ck between the National Archives in St Louis, the HRC in Knox, and your states Va.  To those about to leave military service document everything and make sure your UA sends your 201 file in with everything complete otherwise it can cause havoc when you apply for benefits.

Thanks for the help, I'm gonna call or go see the local VA rep tomorrow or the day after and will get back here with a follow up.

This could be the issue. I had a similar issue when I moved from NV to WI.

Also look into the state VA programs. I have the 9-11 GI Bill. I gave it to my son who is now using it. Once he is done the WI GI Bill allows for 4 years of schooling paid for at any University Wisconsin campus.

So:
9-11 GI bill 4 years of paid education plus $500 annual book money with stipend (Area based COLA).
WI GI Bill 4 years of tuition for my son.
WI GI Bill (my wife also retired USAF) additional 4 years of tuition for my son.

They key, is it also HAS to be used in that order, no mix and match.
