Son is looking to enlist in the Army, and is interested in 15Q.  It's been 20 years since I enlisted, and I was an 11B, so I'm not much help to him.  Thanks

Tell him: Do it.

I'm a 15Q. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Hey Boomslang64, thanks.  First question is what's the differences in 15Q, and 15P?  Just from what I've read they are similar.  The whole process is getting frustrating now, first they offer 15Q to him, and then he goes down to MEPS, and they take it away, and offer 25B.

15Q and 15P are completely different. They go through AIT in the same place, but that's about where the similarity ends. I don't know a ton about 15P, but they mostly do flight plan and operations stuff. 15Qs are the guys who actually control traffic. The training for 15Q is over 2 times as long.

Where do 15Q usually end up as duty stations go?  What other responsibilities do they have other than controlling traffic, if any?

We mostly go to the bigger posts stateside along with Alaska, Hawaii, Korea, Germany and a few unusual places. Fort Rucker is basically our home, and you'll probably be here at least once. I can't really speak for the tactical side of Army ATC, but here at Rucker we work in an ATC facility, and that's it.

Very much appreciate the information, and I think he may have the recruiter lined out.......finally.  They must be needing 25Bs in a bad way, as hard as they are pushing that one!
