I thought this was pretty interesting as we rarely get to see this type of stuff.

I would love to spend a day with an F1 engineering team at a shop with a car in development.  Every inch of these cars is fascinating.

It's older, but pretty cool nonetheless:

Sauber has many other cool things on their youtube channel.

It's going to be a massive heaping hill of bullshit if Jenson Button isn't driving for McLaren next year. Of course, my gut is telling me they will be much worse off next year with Honda power. It'd be hilarious if Lotus can have a resurgence like Williams did this year and routinely beats Woking's best.

I like Jenson, but it would be foolish to sign an old driver on his way out over a young driver with as much talent as Magnussen.

Either one would play 2nd fiddle to Alonso anyway.

Webber is out of hospital

UPDATE 1-12-2014
Mark spent the night in a local hospital in São Paulo where he underwent further checks. He sustained bruising and concussion in the accident he suffered in Sunday’s six-hour race.

"I’m quite sore this morning and am pretty bruised and have got a stinking headache,” Mark said earlier today.
"I’ve got no recollection of the accident or how it happened – the team is looking into the details to find out more.

"Thanks to the medical team at the track and here at the hospital who did a great job and are looking after me very well. On a positive note it’s great that the boys in car no. 14 managed to bring home the victory which is a fantastic way to finish off the season. I’m already looking forward to getting out there again next year.”

Mark is still under care at the hospital but is set to return to the UK later this week.

UPDATE 1-12-2014
Porsche states that Mark Webber has been released from hospital

Yesterday I was a lucky boy. The correct angle of impact saved me. Thanks everybody for your incredible messages and support. #recovering??
   — Mark Webber (@AussieGrit) December 1, 2014

That's great to hear.

I wonder if the crash makes Nico Hulkenberg nervous or if Webber being okay makes him more confident?

Hulk is racing a 3rd car at Spa and Le Mans for Porsche.

And the Leopard has officially started changing it's spots on Arfcom.  Unless Saint Enzo comes down from heaven Ferrari and gifts the team an engine of Gold, Frankincense, and Myrrh, they aren't going to do much better next year than they did this one.  Also, don't say nasty things about Fernando.. he's easily the best driver on the grid.. as evidenced by his performance in five years of below average Ferraris.

The Tifosi are going to be a fucking riot next year.

This could be the most hilarious season ever in F1.

It's going to be a rough season for me too.. Seb and Alonso are my two favorite drivers since Mark left, but I don't particularly like either Ferrari or Mclaren. I'm going to give big red a chance since Luca is gone now though.  Mclaren gets no chances until Ron Dennis is burned at the stake.

I know it! Maybe I'll be a Williams fan, they DO have the best livery of any of the cars.

I've stopped going back and listening to the pre-V6 cars. The "pain" of what has been lost is just too much. Hoooray for the enviro-nazis and their drive to push engines to be smaller. Life is just so much richer because of it...

So....today is the day that McLaren's board meets to decide the driver lineup.

Not sure how I feel about the options.

Boot the rookie (again), dump the expensive experience or get crazy and promote Vandoorne.

[#45]
McLarens driver question boils down to what do they want for 2015...if they want to finish higher than 5th its Alonso/Button.

If they are willing to write it off as a development year then it will be Alonso/Magnussen or the wildcard Alonso/Vandoorne although the FIA might have squashed that with the super license age change.

Magnussen had a couple flashes early in the season but I didn't see consistent quickness that justified the number of times the car came in on a hook.

I realize to many Button is old and stale, but he brings it home in the points....which is what Honda needs.

No offense to KMag, he's a great guy and a good driver, but Button is a world champion. Just 1 more season in a contending car for JB.

There is quite a bit going on in the background.

From Joe Seward:

My feeling is that the decision is probably now tied to the question of who owns the team in six weeks time. Ron Dennis is busy raising money to buy shares belonging to his partners. There is a deadline. If he is successful he will become the majority shareholder and will do as he pleases, if he is not successful there will be changes at the top of the group. The drivers will just have to wait to see what happens. The fans too…

There was also a report than Dennis paid a 30 million pound penalty to extend his options out six weeks (which should have ended on Dec 1).

I would HATE to see JB go, but how much growth potential is there?  JBs best years are behind him (unfortunately spent in an underperforming BAR) while KMag has the possibility for bigger and better things, though I think they would be better off picking up someone that is more consistent like JEV.

I dunno, from a team perspective, the idea of two old farts in a team (Damn, I just called JB and Fernando old farts, but they are in regards to F1 ) frankly scares me.. either one of them could hang it up and go drive sports cars or endurance cars a lot easier than a young driver.  And with the young drivers being so good (Look at Ricciardo and Bottas this year) why pay ridiculous money for an older driver.

I think RBR got it right, with Seb gone, they can invest even more money into the cars and make themselves a force to be reckoned with, and both of those young guys are 'good enough' to take on and beat the oldsters if they are in the right car.
