It appears as though Marquez and Rossi really enjoy their duels, they both have big grins when they pull their helmets off. It's fun to watch them go at it!

Canada is one of my favorite races each year. The track is gorgeous and the race is usually good. I'm always excited that its in the spring because I don't care for a number of tracks before and after Canada.

The FIA will monitor all team radio in real-time in order to enforce the new limits on messages to drivers from this weekend’s Singapore Grand Prix. The FIA believes that will give it a very high chance of detecting any illegal messages immediately, which could allow them to be dealt with straight away. The FIA has produced a clarification setting out which messages will be allowed and which will be banned: Messages now forbidden Sector time detail of a competitor and where a competitor is faster or slower. Adjustment of power unit settings. Adjustment of power unit setting to de-rate the systems. Adjustment of gearbox settings. Balancing the SOC [state-of-charge of batteries] or adjusting for performance. Information on fuel flow settings (except if requested to do so by race control). Information on level of fuel saving needed. Information on differential settings. Start maps related to clutch position, for race start and pit stops. Information on clutch maps or settings, e.g. bite point. Burn-outs prior to race starts. Information on brake balance or BBW (brake-by-wire) settings. Selection of driver default settings (other than in the case of a clearly identified problem with the car). Answering a direct question from a driver, e.g. “Am I using the right torque map”? Any message that appears to be coded. Messages forbidden from the Japanese Grand Prix Learning of gears of the gearbox Information on tyre pressures or temperatures Warning on brake wear or temperatures Messages still allowed Acknowledgement that a driver message has been heard. Lap or sector time detail. Lap time detail of a competitor. Gaps to a competitor during a practice session or race. Push hard, “push now”, “you will be racing xx” or similar. Helping with warning of traffic during a practice session or race. Giving the gaps between cars in qualifying so as to better position the car for a clear lap. Puncture warning. Tyre choice at the next pit stop. Number of laps a competitor has done on a set of tyres during a race. Tyre specification of a competitor. Indication of a potential problem with a competitor’s car during a race. Information concerning a competitors likely race strategy. Yellow flags, blue flags, Safety Car deployment or other cautions. Messages forbidden from the Japanese Grand Prix Learning of gears of the gearbox Information on tyre pressures or temperatures Warning on brake wear or temperatures |

Any message that appears to be coded. View Quote The FIA has gone full retard. An easy way around this is to have certain drivers represent certain parts of the car. For example, if I mention Jenson Button I'm talking about the brakes. If I say he is doing XXX then change this, if I say he is doing YYY then change this. When actually talking about another driver just use their last name. |

Well, now they'll run em till they blow apart, cause the crews can't tell them to shut it down, that something has went wrong. Might have some brake failures, cause the crew can't tell them the temps are too high ect.... I could think of alot more things...

To be honest I kinda like the FIA shutting down comms. I want it to be about the driver and the car...but I they need to loosen up the rules on the cars. Doing this mid season is just stupid and dangerous. Teams are set up to have that back and forth with the driver, taking it away right now is just negligent.

I didn't have the DVR set to record it! I've been watching all season, having to put-up with watching Marquez beat Vale (I remember that one race where Vale was leading the ENTIRE race, only to have Marc steal it on the last lap). I like the FNG... but Vale will always be my favorite MGP rider. Wish I would have been able to see it! I guess I can probably find it online somewhere to watch. |

one of the reason could be because winning onnce in Ferrari is probably worth winning 4 times or more in RB, history wise

I lust after their road cars every day (I've got a 458 Spider poster in my office with me right now, as well as a 2014 Ferrari calendar). And my time spent in a friend's 458 Italia and 308 GT this summer were heaven (still waiting to get a ride in his Testa Rossa). But right now... if I was a betting man... I wouldn't bet on a Ferrari championship in the short term. if anyone could do it right now, it'd be Alonzo... but there's just nothing going-on there to give me confidence in it happening soon. I like the spirit of the rule but I think it's silly to do in the middle of the season. Also, I like hearing the radio messages during the broadcast. For the most part I do too but all of the twaddle about telemetry directed setting changes is too much. All they've done it to make the driver move a switch that FIA won't let the engineers do remotely. They already only broadcast a small portion of the radio messages. The 74 messages broadcast during the Italian Grand Prix was considerably lower than that seen at many other rounds this year, in some races this year more than 200 messages were heard, of those, 27 (36.5%) would be affected by the new rules. One team told F1 Fanatic they broadcast almost 300 messages during that race. That indicates the total messages sent by all the teams ran to several thousand. |

Reading published drivers comments about the radio traffic crack down tells me that the drivers meeting for Singapore will be epic.
Button-"They used to be able to tell us what to do but now it’s back in our hands,” the 34-year-old said. "It’s great. Now you’ve got to do your homework and prepare for the race. It’s not getting to the race and hoping they can tell you what to do. Raikkonen-"Obviously we don’t speak a lot in the radio in my case,” said the Ferrari driver, "usually when there is no issues”. "But obviously it might get quite complicated if there’s some problems with the car and they have to change certain things to try to finish the race so I don’t know how the rule goes on those times. "It makes it more complicated for us but it’s part of the game so it’s OK.” Rosberg- It is a challenge for us drivers because it is new and different. Up until now much a lot of what we do on track is what they tell us to do: drive faster, drive slower, take care of the tyres, look after the fuel – now you can use more fuel and so on. Now we are on our own out there! From now on it will be very different. Massa- there are so many things in the car that we are doing that if you don't do them maybe there will be too much temperature in the rear brakes because the battery gets too high and then you have a fire in the car. "You can have a big accident and this is not something that is related to the driver, it is related to a very complicated power unit in the car. If you are not using the right settings then you can forget it, you will not do two laps. That is something that is not related to the driver but to the complicated system that we have. I'm against it, completely against it." "It's something they could have done more professionally, not just speak too much with the old drivers. They always believe that now it's too complicated and too easy for us, but they've never driven the car. If you want to go back [to the past] then just bring the car from that time and we'll race them. It's not a problem." Hamilton- "On one side over my Formula One career it has been a real battle making sure you say the right things on the radio and I haven't always got it right, so on one side I think it's a great thing! "The way Formula One has gone it has just been an assistance really. At the end of the day we still have to do the job out there it's just that we get help in terms of guiding us there. Alonso- "I think this rule has no benefit. It is like basketball or football not allowing the coach to say anything. At the end of the day it is just a very competitive sport. Some of the messages we receive are for safety; it is not only for performance |

As usual, Alonso puts it the best. I don't see this one lasting too long.. maybe till the first major injury when someone crashes full on into a wall at 300kph, because their brakes fail?

Ferraris looked half decent today
This proves one thing. The car design isn't that bad. They just made a shameful power unit. |

The FIA has postponed a ban on messages relating to the adjustment of power unit settings, the car’s state of charge, clutch maps, brake-by-wire settings, differential settings, start modes, fuel saving and other technical parameters will remain legal. Such messages were frequently used by teams in previous races. The forbidden messages include those relating to: Driving lines on the circuit Contact with kerbs Car set up parameters for specific corners Comparative or absolute sector time detail of another driver Speeds in corners compared to another driver Gear selection compared with another driver Gear selection in general Braking points Rate of braking compared to another driver Rate of braking or application of brakes in general Car stability under braking Throttle application compared to another driver Throttle application in general Use of DRS compared with another driver Use of any overtake button Driving technique in general The FIA now intends to introduce a ban on messages relating relating to car performance from next season. |
