Racing is too damn dangerous to be pissed off enough to swing at someone.. I would bench one of my drivers if they acted like that, because I would sincerely question their decision making skills while driving.

You can keep milquetoast guys like ROS. I want guys with some fire and a set of balls.

Very fun race. Hamilton was clearly the man with the car, skills, and strategy today.

Mid-pack racing was great to see, lots of great passing.

I have to say that Vettel had the drive of the day in the second half of the race. Something in his car turned on and he was off.

Guys who had pics from the race, thank you, they were awesome.

I hate admitting this, but with 50 points in the last race it's going to be interesting. I still think it's stupid.

If you want to argue F1 vs NASCAR please take it to this thread as it doesn't belong here.

Lastly, I hate all of the cowboy hats they wear during the USGP.

P.S. I really don't like how Mario Andretti is always the guy they drag out as the face of American motorsport. Indy and F1 he's everywhere. I'm not trying to take anything away from his accomplishments, but why can't we get Dan Gurney up there?

But really, the marketing team at the track really tries too hard to remind everyone we are in Texas.  A few of the drivers think its fun, but most are either confused by the hats, or just uninterested.

Webber never took a swing at Seb.. Though I doubt I would have found much of a problem if he did.  Webber could punt a baby 50 yards and I'd still like him, he's my kind of dude.

It just makes me sick that a fairly respectable racing series like NASCAR of yesteryear has resorted to shit like this for ratings... It has turned itself into the WWE of racing, and has made Americans again look like the laughingstock of the racing world... and the young guys see this shit and emulate it.. and we end up with a kid splattered all over a dirt track by a sprint car.

I would have no problem if Gordon had hung back and T-boned BK on track for his crap driving, but the purse swinging bitch fight at the end? Heh...

The only one I didn't get that I wanted was Hamilton. There were some "scheduling issues" so he arrived after Rosberg and couldn't stay long enough to do the autograph session the way it was planned.

I'm pretty sure they just didn't want to be on the same stage together. I got a picture of him from about 10 feet away.

http://www.foxsports.com/motor/story/report-alonso-s-move-to-mclaren-f1-appears-done-110414

After a frantic period of mystery and speculation, the course of Fernando Alonso's future is now beginning to clear.

Multiple authoritative sources are reporting that the Spaniard is definitely headed to McLaren-Honda, on an initial two-year deal to be Danish youngster Kevin Magnussen's teammate.

"Could be," team boss Eric Boullier told Spain's Antena 3 when asked about Alonso's future in connection with McLaren, where he drove with Mercedes power in 2007.

"He is one of the drivers we have spoken to," the Frenchman admitted. "He is one of the options.

"I hope that we have decided before Abu Dhabi, I want it to be done by then, but until now we have not decided."

I was going to mention that I thought Jenson was done.

He has been posting pics (today) of his career on Twitter (first race, last win, etc.), which is very out of character for him

I think an interesting little anecdote is that Rosberg has not won a race since the clampdown on team radio communications.

I don't think ANYONE here would argue that Ham is definitely a better driver than Rosberg... But think on this Warp... Rosberg drove from last to second in Sochi, because he cooked his tires in the first corner.. so his performance matches Hamilton's in that regard.  Maybe Nico can step it up and win this year, if he doesn't he's going to be relegated to Barrichello status in the team and he should probably move on.

But whatever, I've not heard Hamilton throwing his team under the bus with regards to how crap the car is this year, so that's an improvement.

Whoever wins it, wins it... I'm happy that Merc can build two good cars, so there's at least some competition, unlike The Red Bull Years.

2 of the 4 seasons during "The Red Bull Years" went down to the last race (with both drivers championships being won by less than 5 points)

True, but that was only due to Fernando being able to drive a crap car beyond its theoretical pace, and capitalize on Red Bulls MANY strategy fuck ups.

But then, If it wasn't for Fernando, Schumacher would probably have 12 championships.

There were atleast 3 Mclaren P1's there. I saw 2 other different ones then the one you saw.

And to whoever had the Larue hat on in turn 11... I sat a couple of rows up from you

How were the turn 12 seats? I am thinking about getting those for next year, and probably getting a camping spot outside of turn 5.

I highly recommend Turn 12.  We were in Section 5 at the very top row, and could see much of the track.  The Porsche races were very good to watch in that turn too.

Turn 12 is the best place I've sat at the track.  You can see the top of turn 1 into 2, most of the S's, the last of the back straight into 12, and turns 13-15.

I don't think there is anywhere else at the track with visibility that good.

I don't have anything to compare it to  since I just went the one year (2013), but my Turn 12 seats were awesome.

You see the cars come absolutely flying down the end of the back straight, then kill the brakes coming into the turn.  And you have a great visual of the turn 13-14 "mini-hump".

I guess this was part of the upgrades package to the track, a smart move for sure.  I know the paddock is due up for a complete revamp, but I think that isn't starting till after this race.

McLaren has warned Fernando Alonso he is running out of time to commit to the British team for the 2015 season.

Media reports in the last days have suggested the Spaniard, whose five-year stint at Ferrari appears definitely over, has now decided to re-join McLaren to spearhead the team's new works Honda era.

Italy's Tuttosport said the contract is for two years with a total value of EUR 70 million.

On a visit this week to Mexico City's rejuvenating F1 venue for 2015, however, Alonso denied the reports.

"There is nothing new," he insisted. "I have decided nothing for next year - nothing is definite yet.

"With Ferrari I am seeing what is the best decision for next year, whether I continue or not, but I will try to choose what is best for my future.

"I have something in my head, but every week for the past two months there have been these rumours, always with a different team.

I'm thinking there is a game going on with Ferrari, they signed Vettel before Alonso had committed to leave. So now what if Alonso wants to stay, they are still under contract for next season. Ferrari may end up owing Alonso money.

It's possible that Alonso really wants to stay at Ferrari; he needs a sign from them that the car will be competitive next year and he's giving them all the time possible to get a grip on the car.

It's possible that Alonso really wants to stay at Ferrari; he needs a sign from them that the car will be competitive next year and he's giving them all the time possible to get a grip on the car.

Either that or the plan is to give Kimi another bucket of cash.

Exactly.  This is going to end up costing Ferrari a LOT of money, though it would probably be cheaper to get rid of Kimi than Alonso, and would also make more sense.

Seeing Kimi back in a McLaren wouldn't bother me...   I just don't see Kimi sticking around, he's got back problems to contend with, he's getting older, and he doesn't seem to be having as much fun as he used to.

Sky reporting that the administrator for Marussia is reporting, "...Marussia has stopped trading and its employees will be made redundant."

Theoretical question.

Given the current power train rules and points farce for Abu Dhabi, If you’re at your season maximum component change count (as most are), or even if you aren’t  - why *wouldn’t* you switch all possible power train components to ensure higher performance and reliability rather than enter a double points race and suffer a mechanical?
I can’t fathom a reason you would enter a double points with any used components on the car.

1: doesn’t this completely nullify the power train cost savings model?

2: if the entire grid incurs maximum penalty due to component changes who starts where and what purpose is qualifying?

PS: F1's favorite whipping boy Maldonado better knock this crap off...2 races in a row he's got legs on Grosjean? ??!!

Caterham is using crowdsourcing to raise funds to race in Abu Dhabi. Does anyone have 2.35 million pounds laying around? It'd be cool to see an F1 car run a BFL.

Red Flag for JEV's car on track.

Red flags in both sessions so far. Interlagos has not been kind.

drivers complaining of degradation and lack of grip due to high track temps.  Maybe Pirellis original harder compound choice wasn't so dumb after all.  Thanks Massa
