Very fun race. Hamilton was clearly the man with the car, skills, and strategy today.
Mid-pack racing was great to see, lots of great passing. I have to say that Vettel had the drive of the day in the second half of the race. Something in his car turned on and he was off. Guys who had pics from the race, thank you, they were awesome. I hate admitting this, but with 50 points in the last race it's going to be interesting. I still think it's stupid. If you want to argue F1 vs NASCAR please take it to this thread as it doesn't belong here. Lastly, I hate all of the cowboy hats they wear during the USGP. P.S. I really don't like how Mario Andretti is always the guy they drag out as the face of American motorsport. Indy and F1 he's everywhere. I'm not trying to take anything away from his accomplishments, but why can't we get Dan Gurney up there? |

It has turned itself into the WWE of racing, and has made Americans again look like the laughingstock of the racing world... and the young guys see this shit and emulate it.. and we end up with a kid splattered all over a dirt track by a sprint car. I would have no problem if Gordon had hung back and T-boned BK on track for his crap driving, but the purse swinging bitch fight at the end? Heh...

I was able to snag some pretty good autographs this weekend: The poster was signed by Nico Hulkenberg, I also got Driver Cards from Hulkenberg (they handed it to me with the poster), Daniil Kvyat, and Sergio Perez. The small packet next to Hulkenberg's Drivers Card was signed by Vettel. The program was signed by Nico Rosberg http://i.imgur.com/AXX4mVT.jpg Hell of a haul on the autographs! The only one I didn't get that I wanted was Hamilton. There were some "scheduling issues" so he arrived after Rosberg and couldn't stay long enough to do the autograph session the way it was planned. I'm pretty sure they just didn't want to be on the same stage together. I got a picture of him from about 10 feet away. |

After a frantic period of mystery and speculation, the course of Fernando Alonso's future is now beginning to clear. Multiple authoritative sources are reporting that the Spaniard is definitely headed to McLaren-Honda, on an initial two-year deal to be Danish youngster Kevin Magnussen's teammate. "Could be," team boss Eric Boullier told Spain's Antena 3 when asked about Alonso's future in connection with McLaren, where he drove with Mercedes power in 2007. "He is one of the drivers we have spoken to," the Frenchman admitted. "He is one of the options. "I hope that we have decided before Abu Dhabi, I want it to be done by then, but until now we have not decided." View Quote |

With Honda coming to McLaren in 2015 it was thought that Button would be their guy, a chance at Alonso is too much to miss out on perhaps?
Button should go drive with Webber. |

Turn 12 is the best place I've sat at the track. You can see the top of turn 1 into 2, most of the S's, the last of the back straight into 12, and turns 13-15.
I don't think there is anywhere else at the track with visibility that good. |
|
I don't have anything to compare it to since I just went the one year (2013), but my Turn 12 seats were awesome.
You see the cars come absolutely flying down the end of the back straight, then kill the brakes coming into the turn. And you have a great visual of the turn 13-14 "mini-hump". |

McLaren has warned Fernando Alonso he is running out of time to commit to the British team for the 2015 season.Media reports in the last days have suggested the Spaniard, whose five-year stint at Ferrari appears definitely over, has now decided to re-join McLaren to spearhead the team's new works Honda era. Italy's Tuttosport said the contract is for two years with a total value of EUR 70 million. On a visit this week to Mexico City's rejuvenating F1 venue for 2015, however, Alonso denied the reports. "There is nothing new," he insisted. "I have decided nothing for next year - nothing is definite yet. "With Ferrari I am seeing what is the best decision for next year, whether I continue or not, but I will try to choose what is best for my future. "I have something in my head, but every week for the past two months there have been these rumours, always with a different team. View Quote |

Theoretical question.
Given the current power train rules and points farce for Abu Dhabi, If you’re at your season maximum component change count (as most are), or even if you aren’t - why *wouldn’t* you switch all possible power train components to ensure higher performance and reliability rather than enter a double points race and suffer a mechanical? I can’t fathom a reason you would enter a double points with any used components on the car. 1: doesn’t this completely nullify the power train cost savings model? 2: if the entire grid incurs maximum penalty due to component changes who starts where and what purpose is qualifying? PS: F1's favorite whipping boy Maldonado better knock this crap off...2 races in a row he's got legs on Grosjean? ??!! |

Caterham is using crowdsourcing to raise funds to race in Abu Dhabi. Does anyone have 2.35 million pounds laying around? It'd be cool to see an F1 car run a BFL.
