There are some pieces of the car wedged under the crane in one of those pics

I'd like everybody to know that although I am posting all of the pictures here that Jules, his family, and the entire Marussia Team and family are in my thoughts and prayers.
I only post the pictures as I believe in passing along the information. |

Damn. So he really went below the crane.
His helmet must have impacted hard. Probably crushed down too. The 'good' news is that the helmet seem to be almost intact |

Were pieces placed back on the car after Jules was removed? |
|
In prior pics it looked like the air intake and crash hoop were intact. That doesn't look good. Prayers for him.

I didn't watch the race yet but caught the thread titles....horrible. Plumber thanks for keeping us updated.

I think after Jules was removed the engine cover and other parts were placed on top of the car before it was moved. I agree with you, that last photo you posted doesn't have an engine cover. Cover probably recoiled back toward the track from the impact when it came loose. |

Interesting telemetry. It looks like Jules came into that corner pretty hot.

1994 all over again.
1 - FIA making a fucking mess again, changing radically the rules 2 - A driver going over the edge, because he's in a POS car 3 - Tragedy |

Assigning blame before all of the information is out and the important questions are answered is not a great idea at this time. Bianchi is alive and reports are that he is breathing on his own. At this point it is a terrible accident, not a tragedy. |

Just saying this is another messy season, that FIA change the rules without thinking on the persons inside the track. And, the tiniest team will be the most screwed. Will have spend with other things, than safety |

Prayers for Jules Bianchi.
In other tragic news, F1.com is reporting that Andrea de Cesaris has been killed in a motorcycle accident.
|

Per Kimi's FB page:
"RMC Sport saying Bianchi's condition has worsened, he's now been hooked on life support." Come on, Jules! |
|
|
Stupid incident, continuing to run under such conditions (both the hydroplaning and the safety tractor being out from behind the barriers).
I hope an otherwise epic track isn't neutered as a result (see: Imola). |
|
I just finished watching my DVR'd copy of the race, and after the accident at the end, came strait here for the updates, and wow, those pics look pretty bad. Looks like the whole car went under the back of the crane, and Bianchi's head made pretty sharp impact, plus, probably stoved his neck down int he cockpit to further worsen things.
Not good at all, and of course with the FIA, you'll never get any up to the hour official updates, and the speculators will go nuts I lost a good gun buddy this weekend, I hate this stuff. |

Only thing I might see changing is more safety cars for stranded vehicles |

I'm watching the replay on NBCSN right now (couldn't stay awake during the first few laps under caution last night). Seeing Hamilton, Rosberg, and Vettel looking so glum right before the podium is eerie. . .
|
|
Well....I got about 30 laps into the replay on NBCSP before we got callled out. DA FUQ?!?!?!? The organizers had a chance to run the race sooner and they opted out? Those conditions were horrible.
Prayers sent for J Binachi....This is terrbile I hope he pulls through. Bad news that they have put him back on life support. |

I didn't want to see it this way, but maybe we'll see Alex Rossi on the grid in Sochi. He is one of 2 reserve drivers for Marussia.

View Quote Hopefully Bianchi will recover fully, but he probably won't race for a little while either way. Rossi seems like the obvious replacement since he was slotted to replace Chilton in Spa. That would give him a drive for the US GP too. Really hoping we see Bianchi again though, I've said he was one of the most underrated drivers on the grid for a while. |

Bianchi out of surgery and breathing on his own.

Well, from the reports this sounds like a copy of Micheal Shumachers accident, but as we know all head injuries are different, so no jumping to conclusions. I expect Jules will be in a coma for a while to see how bad the swelling will be to his brain, the real test is when they wake him from that coma. No one has reported how bad the head injury was, so that is the key bit of info. |

Where are you guys getting he's on life support? All I see is that he is out of surgery. Critical, and in intensive care, but not life support.
