BUMPED:
Raikkonen, Vettel, Sutil, Kobyashi, and Perez. Really looked like button would have made Q3! Yellow probably slowed him. |
These cars are TAIL HAPPY and Massa is putting on a clinic on how to tame them.
Riccardo on the front row!
hell of a drive kid, hell of a drive! Hamilton on pole |
WOW WOW WOW What a finish!
Hamilton SNATCHES it from Riccardo! What a drive from all of the Q3 drivers...except Kvyat. |
Both STR & RIC out qualify Vettel. Will be interesting tomorrow for sure, go Magnussen (both of them)!
Great q session. Nothing better in my opinion than formula 1 qualifying.
so refreshing to see drivers actually having cars that bite back and forcing drivers to have to drive.

certainly going to be a interesting race. not much really else one can say
Whoa, that was an unexpected session in more ways then one.
Can't wait for the race. |
Pretty awesome qualifying and results.
Hope tomorrow is dry so we can see how each team really stacks up at this point. |

Vettel and Magnussen are being looked at for violating the yellow flag caused by Raikkonen.

Good to see Richardo snag #2 spot! :-) No kidding! Amazing seeing a Red Bull on the first row after all of the pre-season drama. Red bull issues have always been long run and heat.... It's was a qual under the rain.... a bit disapointed by Alonso... Maybe doing the whole Q3 with I tires was a mistake, but clearly, right now Mercedes equipped cars are superior. Hopefully we will see fixes after this race... Plus it's gonna be a long race |

And you guys have been preaching about how the ice man, kimi was going to put ferrari back in the championship. Only trouble is kimi cant keep a nose on the front of his car! Great on daniel though! Glad to see a bull in p2. |

I was glad to see Ricciardo qualify 2nd.
How about Massa out-qualifying Kimi in his old ride? Must have felt great for Felipe.

And here comes the vettel cheersquad that completely ignores everyone else's arguments and takes it from one extreme to another

Wow seconds slower View Quote The comparison is a bit distorted. Last year's cars had 4 years of development into them. These cars have had two tests. The funny thing is all of the FIA approved media making excuses for the sound. The latest story is that the track side mikes aren't mixed properly. I wouldn't be surprised if Bernie doesn't have them add recorded engine noise to the feed, he's not one to let honesty stand in the way of a good show. |

My predictions. At least five cars die, Hamilton will be the first blow up. Rosberg, Alonso, Bottas at the finish. Two cars will run out of fuel due to being short fueled. Top ten for Caterham. New cars sound terrible. MotoGP sounds better than the new weed eater engines. Oh wait, that's insulting to weed eaters. View Quote IIRC you can't short fuel to the current regs. 100 kg limit and no one anticipates using less. |

And here comes the vettel cheersquad that completely ignores everyone else's arguments and takes it from one extreme to another No here comes the crowd who reads. Vettels mapping was screwed up causing a lack of power and huge drivabilty issues. Even with those issues he managed to keep his car intact! Mean while the "Gods in red" placed at p10, and another wrecked f14. Lets also not forget seb had to heavily brake and slow down when the "ice man" totalled his car.....again. And most of us never disagreed that a high quality car can make a better driver. Thats kinda the whole point of F1. However to deny Sebs talent is just ignorant. |

What people are denying is that he had a superior car for the last few seasons.

You want to win: put the best car and a raw talented driver together. As a Red Bull fan I apologize that the rest of the F1 teams have failed to do so...is that what your looking for? Red Bull fans to feel sorry for the other teams? |

So refreshing to see the vettel fanboys getting all worked up, no matter where the red cars place themselves, I dont care. Domeniali & co are a lost cause... In 6 years they always stared with the 2nd or 3rd best car, but never manage to get a winning idea or design.
My main interest for the season will be to see if ricciardo gets a better treatment than webber ! Hahahaha |

Can't wait for the race!
Rain during Q is always welcome. I never thought that They could ever produce a vehicle that sounds more annoying than a rice-burner fart can. The Ol' Crew Chief |

Just realized I picked Hamilton to get the pole in the fantasy league. Off to a good start, but who the heck knows what will happen tomorrow. I think it's going to be a circus.

The negative on Newey has always been that he's feast or famine. When his designs come up short, the problems are usually big.
In his first few seasons at McLaren it was a small miracle when they went a weekend without an engine failure. There was a fair bit of tension with Mercedes over it. Mika Hakkinen even had the habit of tapping the Three Point Star on the nose of his car after victories for luck. |

I remember having this same debate about Schumacher and even Dale Earnhardt years ago. My feeling is that Sebastian is super talented and has been driving the best car the last several years. He's not my favorite driver/personality in the sport, though I certainly don't dislike him. I'm a fan of Kimi and Fernando. However, I do believe he will go down as one of the sports' all-time best drivers. I guess our argument comes down to how you would rate Vettel's pure talent on a scale of 1-10 and what percentage the driver contributes to results.
