Was it just an accident that Oswald managed to be working in a building that overlooked Kennedy's motorcade route? How long had he worked at the schoolbook depository? How far in advance had the motorcade route been published? It seems to be a real stretch to imagine conspirators getting the route and placing a shooter in exactly the right spot to shoot the president. It seems as if there were much better opportunities for an assassination location if it really were a conspiracy. What do the conspiracy nuts say? Was it just an impulsive crime of opportunity for Oswald or was it planned? |

You bring up great points that I never thought of, however I believe Oswald was a Patsy in the whole ordeal. Both he and Ruby were expendable along with several others.

Oswald being the lone gunman was the best possible outcome in Kennedys Assasination. Not saying that killing Kennedy was a good thing. What I am saying is what actions would have to be taken in response to a Presidential Assasination
Lets say the Russians or Cubans did it. What would the United States response have to be? A lone gunman. Convicted and executed. done |

The building was the "right spot" because that's where he was. If he was somewhere else, the history books would read differently.

I think it went more like Oswald was working there and noticed the parade route went right by his building and thought, "Hey I have great vantage point to shoot that commie hating bastard. If I kill the President people will finally realize how important I am!"

If there was a conspiracy behind the killing, the people must have been disappointed, because LBJ actually got more done than Kennedy and started a real war with commies. I've never been sure why somebody wanted Kennedy out of the picture when they got another guy just like him.

According to the legends of the time, EVERYBODY LOVED THE KENNEDY's. Even the nuns where I went to school were convinced that God consulted the Kennedy's before he made all of His important decisions. Who would want to shoot such a universally loved individual?
By today's standards, his security was extremely lax. I still think it was a crime of opportunity. JFK was an extremely ill and usually heavily drugged individual. His cholesterol level was over 400 when he died. He lived with chronic severe back pain and yet given the level of drugs it took to control it, he could walk out to the podium like he was the healthiest individual in the country. Those closest to him could not figure out how he did it. |

I just watched a frontline on pbs about him. The lady that helped him get a job there was helping his wife.
He noticed later the route published and took the chance. He had previously failed to assassinate a general. My conspiracy theory is CIA and LBJ wanted it done so they let it happen. Oswald was a useful idiot. |

Oswald acted alone. He was a left-wing, political crackpot. He worked at the school book depository. Kennedy's route was well known to all of Dallas including Oswlad. He was a target of opportunity.
That's all there is to it. If there was more to it, there would be solid evidence. There isn't. Also, a conspiracy would be "the secret too big to keep." There are conspiracy theories because Kennedy's death had such far-reaching consequences. Some people benefitted. But to say they had a hand in it is to fall prey to a post hoc fallacy. |

I was around when all this went down and I do believe Oswald was the only shooter. But, I will always believe that LBJ somehow had a part in it. LBJ was the most corrupt President up until Obama!
|

I also believe that Oswald was the only shooter. What I was interested in was the timing of his being employed at the depository a little before the motorcade. Since the route wasn't published long before the event I can't figure how the conspiracy nuts can say that he was placed there with the intent of killing Kennedy. If Oswald had picked a random building to shoot from I might be swayed that someone had placed him there, but he fired from where he worked. I believe his outlook may have been influenced some- he was already a Marxist so it didn't take much, but I don't think he was urged or instructed to assassinate the president. I agree that he just saw an opportunity and took it. Maybe he thought it would give him more credibility to the Soviets?Cubans?Mafia/whoever if he shot Kennedy. It's just the timing of it all that's curious. The circumstances surrounding his employment and the publishing of the motorcade route seem to eliminate any possibility of a conspiracy. |

Oswald could have acted alone it is possible. It is possible he was just a patsy. There is no doubt that Johnson gained the most from Kennedy’s death.

Pfft, everyone knows the real assassin was a former SOG operative called Alex Mason. After getting captured during the Bay of Pigs he was sent to a Siberian gulag where he was brainwashed in the Soviet version of MKULTRA.

"In 1963 Secret Service regulations governing escort security
for presidential motorcades provided that buildings along the motorcade route had to be inspected whenever the motorcade route was a standard one that had been used in the past. President Kennedy's Dallas motorcade route had been the standard route for motorcades for years; President Franklin D. Roosevelt, for example, had visited Dallas in 1936 and traversed the same route in a motorcade (although in the opposite direction). Nevertheless, on Nov. 22, 1963, when President Kennedy visited Dallas, the Secret Service's own guidelines were violated, and no inspection of the buildings along the motorcade route was made. Sawing someone barely scored high enough to stay a Marine is different then saying someone is just plain a bad shot. How is it that Oswald's superior also stated that Oswald would have been considered a very good shot when compared to a civilian? |

Read up on the things he did in the preceding months, mostly from the people that knew him (especially Marina) and this is the most likely and prudent conclusion. When you think about Oswald and get drunk on the "patsy" story line, the grounding rod should be Edwin Walker and then the threats on the FBI. He was practicing for doing something brash, violent, something that would make him the somebody he thought he should be. That whackjob mother of his was no small actor in shaping him to be this special kind of dipshit, too. |

How did Oswald pull off the Kennedy assassination when he couldn't hit a stationary target at 30m with that same rifle just 6mos earlier? Not all of his shots hit the president. And he did not get a kill shot until his final shot. The car was driving slowly and lined up extremely well for a shot from Oswald's vantage point. Not to mention, that when the bullet strikes the head, the head doesn't present much resistance for the bullet. The resulting tissue and brain that is ejected at the front of the head acts as a "jet". You know, physics that every school boy or girl should know. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. So that is why JFK's head gets knocked back toward the direction of the shooter. |
