Yessir. He's from an hour down the road.  We have a memorial for him at the bottom of lake Ouachita.  His wife is from the same Little Rock suburb that I grew up in, but I'm younger,  so I never knew her or Adam.

Most of Arfcom probably isn't familiar with him,  but for those that don't know,  he went from a multi year crack addiction to passing Devgru selection,  then devgru sniper school,  After a SIM round destroyed his dominant eye.

I read Fearless last week. I had heard his name before, but didn't know anything about him. He really was an incredible person.

This is a spliced video of random "SEAL" scenes.  Some of it it the simulated scenes for the video game Warfighter: making of the game.  And some of it is from Zero Dark Thirty.  Especially the breach scene when the rounds start coming through the door.

If I remember correctly, that neighborhood is also pretty much Carlos Hathcock's childhood stomping grounds.  Must be something in the water in 09er-ville.

Close.
1 is Otter Creek, the area mentioned in the book that Kelly is from.
2 is just south of the school that my cousin and brother knew her from.
3 is where I lived during that time.
4 is what used to be known as the Geyer Springs community, where Gunny Hathcock grew up. I would like to get a more exact location.
5 is where I lived before I started school, I learned to hunt in those woods.
I still live in the area, just out of frame.
Adam was from, and rests today in a community called Lake Hamilton. A suburb of the Hot Springs community. You can go drive across the bridge talked about so much in the book. I have many times never knowing what was so special about it. Now I smile every time I do.

Wow.  I would have assumed that the drug use would have precluded his selection for something like that.  I'm glad he was able to get his life turned around.

It normally would have.  Especially since he was high when he talked to the recruiter.  But he went with a friend,  the son of that region's CO of recruiting.

Not only that but his Navy buddy's old man was a Naval commander of some type and vouched for him without hesitation.  Really stuck his neck out for Adam Brown.  It really is an amazing story.

Correction, the friend that went with him was another friend,  not the son of Captain Bushman. And he wasn't high when he enlisted,  he just thought he was still possibly dirty.

That is pretty cool.  I have been through Hathcock's sniper school and I have read just about everything there is on Adam Brown and both men are nothing short of bad asses.  I am sure driving over the bridge Adam jumped from and then the rest of his squadran jumped from after he passed is pretty cool.

On my last CJSOTF rotation to the Ghan, we had Canadian forces with us.

We wore that as a tribute to our forefathers.  I imagine that it is the same in that instance.
