The trick, for those that can't get it by staring is to focus hard then slowly cross your eyes and hold, when you go to focus normally again the picture will sometimes pop out. The only issue is that it can sometimes be inverted.

They can go be stupid and annoying together and I'll be just fine over here by myself. |

The way I see those things is to sort of begin to cross my eyes and concentrate and all the sudden I can see it. It is not so much a picture as a 3d image where you see the shape of the object as either closer or farther away than the background. Took me a minute on the shark pic as I have never seen a moving gif version. Drives my wife crazy because she can't do it. I can almost immediately. Took me a minute on the shark pic as I have never seen a moving gif version. Drives my wife crazy because she can't do it. I can almost immediately. Patrick When I was little I couldn't figure out how to see them. I overthank (overthinked? I dunno) it, and concentrated really hard, and still nothing happened. Finally, though, I realized how it worked, and it became something I could do within a half a second, literally. All you have to do is cross your eyes until each column aligns with the consecutive column, and voila. When I was about 12 figured out how they worked before anyone ever explained it to me, and began using MS Paint, using the paintbrush tool and different colors to make a random pixelated pattern of colors, cutting out a column, copying that column, and then cutting out sections and moving them a few pixels to create images. Whatever I cut out I had to copy and paste across the entire image. I made a pyramid, an image of a room, and text. It's really simple once you get how it works. Now if there's a pattern in wallpaper, a word in a book, a fence, even two trees of similar angular size and color, I can cross my eyes, match them, and make them appear closer or further away depending on which direction I cross my eyes. There really is no mystery, no special trick or anything to seeing the images. You literally just cross your eyes and match the columns of the 3D image. If you cross your eyes the wrong way you may see the image inverted, but it'll still be 3D. |

I always thought it would be an actual picture not just a shape. Also, I have a pretty decent headache now. |
