http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h103/feldmarschel/120924_seahawks_refs_2.jpg Figured I'd make my own, and jump on the meme bandwagon I don't get it. Really? The refs are calling out "goal" (a soccer term) during a football game (where the score is called a "touchdown). It's mocking the replacement refs and implying that they are confused as to which sport they are refereeing. It's the same format as the other referee memes where they mention bases, 7th downs, and other irrelevant terms. Ah. I have never watched any soccer so it just looked like what I saw at the end of the game last night. Now that you explained it, I suppose it's quite humorous. |

If i remember correctly those old bag phones would fry your nads but could really reach out. My bag phone was 3 watts, iirc. Modern phones are 2-300mW, but are digital. I have a 3W bag phone somewhere, but haven't run across it in a while. 33dBm is the current broadcast limit on the most powerful phones (2W), though it's not common to broadcast higher than 27dBm (500mW). Some phone radios are limited as low as 21dBm (125mW) out. The signal is normally backed off to the minimum level required to achieve the desired quality of service. I'm reminded of this when working in an anechoic chamber and my cell phone, desperate for a signal, boosts the power on the radio and gets hot and drains the battery. Most phones operate in the -70 to -90dBm (100pW to 1pW) received signal strength range, and match their power output accordingly. |

If i remember correctly those old bag phones would fry your nads but could really reach out. 600 mw = 6/10 of a watt; a little more than a half a watt. Not enuf to fry anything, really, but I suppose if you kept it in one place and used it constantly it'd cause some cell damage. Motorola introduced their line of powerful, rugged cell phones in 1992. These phones put out 3 watts of power (as opposed to 0.6 watts that today's cell phones output) which made them popular for truckers, boaters, and people in rural areas. Because of their durability, many of these phones are still in working order today.
