Guess that's what I get for having a STEM education. Diogenes was an important Greek philosopher, one of the founders of cynicism (as a philosophy, not as being a negative nancy). One account of his death has him holding his breath until he died. Basically he's the worlds most famous crazy hobo. dammit, i think i might be the modern version of him.
