I walked my girlfriend home from my apartment in Jackson Ward to her apartment west of VCU on Franklin at around 11:00pm one night before I got my carry permit (couldn't drive her due to an issue with my vehicle at the time). Not the worst part of Richmond by any stretch, but I was a bit tense to say the least. |

Template for drilling the holes upside down? View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Having worked in commercial construction I know *exactly* what happened - and more than one person had the fail. Template for drilling the holes upside down? 1) Plumbing engineer specified faucets, regular and ADA (paddle) 2) Architect drew a plan view of the countertop showing JUST the regular faucets, probably with a callout to one of them saying "ADA faucet" but not using the regular CAD model. 3) General contractor either missed it on drawing review or decided to pick it up in the shop drawings. 4) Plumbing contractor submitted substitute fixtures, which the GC, Architect, and Plumbing Engineer approved. No, wait - "reviewed." 5) Millwork supplier prepares shop drawings based on the Architect's plan view, but holds off on the hole spacing till he gets the exact model from the GC. Or just used a "standard" template. 6) Granite supplier fabricates off of Millwork supplier's shop drawings, missing the callout on the Architects drawings because, hey - he's the granite guy, he doesn't need a full set of plans, how hard can it be. 7) GC misses the coordination in the shop drawing process, blames Millwork and/or plumbing guy, they both blame the other guy and refuse to fix it until a Change Order is cut to them. 8) Certificate of Occupancy is a schedule milestone, and may have financial consequences for missing it, so GC and Owner say "Fuck it - put it in and we'll fix it on punchlist." 9) EVERYONE forgets about it and closes out the project. |
