I'll be dropping in soon so that Tim Dawson can help me with some minor maintenance on my little Jabiru motor. I'll land on RWY15 so as to no longer be a novice...

YEP! It isn't for novice pilots!

Tim and Nancy are good friends of mine.
Ask him about his Cigar Box Guitar!

I was about to post up my experience of landing at Wimpy Int in a Grumman Cheetah w/ 1PIC & 3 passengers, an hour on the full fuel load in the middle of the summer. I Used up ALL that runway to get that pig airborne & some the leaves those trees too.
I always landed to the north.

South is actually much easier. To the north sometimes carries a tail wind just before you touch down.
I prefer 15, But it's a REAL challenge on a gusty day.
I've burned the runway up with too much fuel and people and had to make someone drive to KGVL and meet us at the airshow.

Pretty cool.
I just showed the video to my Dad. He used to have a log cabin in the hills just north of Wimpy Int. off of Bull Creek Run. When I was current I would fly in, Pop would pick me up go eat lunch then take a flight around North Ga.
The last time we fly that way was on a DC-3 ride w/ Dan Grider*. We flew a low pass over the field & climbed out in a relatively steep right bank looking at Pop's cabin.
*Yep the same DC-3 Capt that got accused of running down a cop in his DC-3.

Still haven't heard the rest of that story or how it sorted out.

That JACKASS blew my Beech around on the ramp at KGVL. (and a few other planes)
My uncle was going to drag him out of that DC3.
His flight examiner for the DC3 was the same guy I used, Bob McSwiggen.

Wimpy ... is that the little blacktop strip, down in a hole ?? I just crossed over it in early December - my OAT was indicating 12.
I didn't stop. I turned north off to the east a bit and went across Copper something-or-the-other, TN, and landed in Madisonville at Monroe County.
Somewhere along the cold way from Bragg, the left strut seal gave out ... so I landed kinda kattywampus.

He needs to be PROFICIENT in short field work.
This was a student from KRYY
This bird spent 4 months in my uncle's hanger.
Too high, too fast, scared of the trees. Landed 3/4 down the runway and off the end.

BE200 or BE300?
B-19.

A really cool experience. Flew out of KGLE
Stopped by a neighbors hanger yesterday. First time I was able to fly in a month. Also I finally got back into the Citabria since I've previously been flying a Cherokee to learn the instrument portion for a private.
Crappy Iphone pics.
An older pic of the Citabria
The Roosevelt will be getting a complete paint job and will run a couple laps at the Indy speedway in Feb.
Anybody up for a burger in Flordia?
His other C-172 was out with a student
A Colt that flew in while we were there.

Pish-posh I say!!!
I did my entire private training without any vac instruments.
Needle/ball and airspeed like they used to do it in the good ol' days!
BTW: There are no pics of you actually flying! Remedy that on the next flight. Then become a team member and make it your avatar.

Ah a Colt!
The only airplane that has a shorter glide ratio than a baby grand piano dropped from a 3rd floor window.

Ha, everyone says I won't be able to do my checkride in the Citabria and need the instruments, they must be lieing to me. Of course I land the Citabria better than I can the Cherokee
And inverted pics to follow...

If you need it, I can give you the names of two DPE's that have done Citabria private checkrides. One in Mt.Vernon and one in Peoria.
Nice toy box. I love the Aerostar, I don't know about the paint on that one though.
When I get closer to the checkride I may hit you up for those names. Thanks.
Eh, paints not to important when you can fly past your friends lol. My dad and him may take it down to look at a Decathlon in Florida to replace the Citabria if dad decides to sell it. I sure as hell better get an invitation on that trip.
Back in the chocks after my first T-38 solo.

Working on my rotor rating. In the left seat taking off.
