Thats a good lookin Honda.
When it comes to riding gear, I'm like a Kardashian in that I love helmets, jackets, footwear, and any other kind of motorcycle wear. If I had the funds I'd have a wardrobe of
scooter gear.
Right now I have 4 jackets, 2 pair of boots, 3 pair of gloves, 2 helmets, and three pants. I wish I could afford more.

That's a good start.
Lightweight.
I have a lot of gear, but I ride offroad, dual sport, tour, commute, you can't have one set of gear for all that that's gonna work so I have closets full of shit. I like to be safe, and I like to be comfortable. That means a lot of everything, and options for the vast array of temps I'm gonna ride in.
if you're looking for gear, "newenough" is a place where i've got most of my power ranger gear, though the last couple big items i got great pricing from "ridersdiscount". current collection is:
shoei x12 (?) painted to match s1k
icon painted to match aprilia
alpine stars 1 pc leather suit
mesh jacket and pants
leather biker zippered jacked with holster sewn in the inside
gauntlet gloves
cooler gloves
redwing biker boots
race boots
and one thing that's handy when you have to wear jeans or dress pants is a pair of knee/shin guards that slip under what you're wearing. doesn't look goofy but still protects.

+ 1 for NewEnough. I've bought a lot of mt gear from them. They discount their stuff heavily when it's out of season or discontinued styles. They have recently changed their name to
Motorcycle Gear. Same place, just a different name.
My kid on his new-to-us BMW 650 GS. Now I'm jones'in for a ride of my own. Been out on it for a few miles, you can tell its been 25 years since I've been on one.

New Enough lo longer exists.
It's now "Motorcycle Gear dot com".
They no longer do the used stuff.
Noted. thanks.
Revzilla is pretty good too. I think they actually ship faster. Both return policies are
good great.

I've had good experiences with Sport Bike Track Gear, Rider's Discount, and Dennis Kirk. Rider's Discount was a little slow to ship, but not bad.

Sport Bike Track Gear is indeed good to go! I've also had great luck with Competition Accessories, I've picked up closeout one-piece leathers, jackets and helmets at decent prices...

can i ask your height? i test drove one a few years ago, absolutely loved the exotic looks, the vtwin sound and torque, but felt like when crouched my head was over the shield like the bike was too small for my 6'1" frame. i noticed later that the seat slopes down, which kind of forces balls-to-tank making the effect worse than if i were back in the saddle. incredible machine in every other way, but happy with the s1k i have now too. just be nice to have one of everything of course.

6'2" 230lbs.
The stock seat sucks, you need to change it if you are going to ride any distance or do track time. A big complaint was the constant sliding into the tank. I have a superpole seat, which is very grippy to keep me in place. The bars are low and its rough on the wrists.
Ive been very happy w/ mine.
The new 1199 is even smaller than the 1098, but I hear they have made the ergos a little better. Id like to pick one up in a couple years.

you're an inch taller than me and fit on that thing? i can see a grippier seat helping stay further back. i assume you sit way back in it when you are crouched down? only question would be how that grippier seat would work in twisties when you're trying to shift over from one side to the other across the seat?

it cramps my legs a bit. but ive ridden 300+ miles in a day on it w/o much issue. I just have to stop every so often and take a break.
The seat doesnt bother full leathers much, it still allows you to move around and generally when i switch sides going into a corner I lift my butt off the seat a little then pop out a knee to go into a corner. Track only of course!

It is very grippy w/ jeans on.

I have the same sentiments. Lol. Except I haven't changed my seat out because I'm cheap!

Oddly enough the seat is the least of my problems on my Buell. I can easily ride all day on it with no "monkey butt". One would think that with a whole half inch of padding it could get tiresome, but it doesn't. The wrists are my problem. After a while they stop hurting, but until they do they are a pain. I can't imagine what you guys with clip ons have to deal with.

I rode my buddy"s 1098 and I was a bit disapointed. Very little low end power compared to my Buell 1125R. The Ducati did have seroius power from 6000 rpm up to red line, but my 1125R starts to come alive at 3500 rpm. With a simple pipe switch and ECM change I can easily keep up with mu buddy's 1098.
The clutch was like a light switch. Either out or in, not much slipping going on there. I understand that it's dry, but I've rode harleys with more feel.
Of course he's still paying on his 1098. I own my 1125R.

I ran w/ a 1125r @ my last trackday. the guy riding it was no joke, he ate me alive. and, i consider myself to be fairly fast. Its a fantastic bike.
A full termi set on the 1098 makes them wake up. The dry clutch sux, i hate it, but i love the noise.
I have less money invested in my 1098s than i did my zx10r. they arent as expensive as people think if u buy used.
I have a 60ish year old riding buddy who rides a 1098. He is 6'5" and thinks its very comfortable. I think the corbin seat helps a lot but I took it for a brief ride and though I wouldn't call it comfy it wasnt too bad. As for power...I wound it out in 2nd gear and think I tore a small hole in the space time continuum. Its definitely not down on power anywhere. Very sweet bike. He does have the termi system on it too. I hate the dry clutch. I always tell him it sounds like he has some silverware rattling around inside his engine.
those 1125's were a helluva bike. caught my attn being a harley guy, especially when they went to a rotax engine which i have in my aprilia (different design of course). was sad to see them fold up shortly after, never quite knew why. only thing i don't like about my s1000rr is it's a dang I4. all i've ever had were vtwins, american and italian, and i do miss that sound. but as fast as the thing is, i'll give it a pass.
