My lil' PigHog...It now has the original air-ride seat back on it and a Whelen siren and a strobe box on the back. I'll get some current pics in the next couple of days.

My local bartender....quite the poser...

I finally finished my KLR650 supermoto conversion.
Some losers may wonder why i trook a 400+ pound bike with limited true dirt capabilities and turned it into a dirt-bike with street tires.
I would respond to this query with the information that I use this bike to commute 20 miles on the freeway and as this is my only bike, it has to do everything I need it to do. I am old and broken down from too many horse and dirt bike wrecks, so I have no desire to wander to far from the beaten track.
So...a 400+lb dual sport on street tires is exactly what I need...and I love her.

Let's set a date and start it rolling. Nice ADV sticker btw....all the cool kids have 'em.

I can plan a good route, and get something together for a couple weeks out.

wish there were empty lots like that around me, not to mention flat pot-hole free. I need a place like that to get better at popping the clutch.

Much easier to wheelie (and safer) to use the throttle, on most modern bikes. Accelerate hard in 1st, roll off the throttle fast and then whack it open as the power starts to come one. Instant controllable wheelie.
ya man mall parking lot early Sunday morning.

[King of the Hill] Yuuuup. [/King of the Hill]
I prefer using the clutch in second gear. I can lift the front end right to the balance point perfectly, every time, and being in second can ride it out for a while or shift to third and go as long as I want. Hard to do a 1-2 shift on one wheel. Being in second, there is less engine braking so you are less likely to slam the front end down while learning, and it will take about 50 attempts before you can even get the front tire off the ground with this method. In 1st gear it is pretty easy to go over.

I don't have to clutch it in second, just roll on the throttle.. whee!
GSXR's may be cookie cutter bikes, but DAYAMN! do they ever have some nut!
I ride a GSX-R1000 and I do not like throwing that much throttle around, plus it requires a little more room.

Haha I had the same bike ('06) until about three weeks ago....moving up from the SV650 it was a bit of an adjustment, I definitely learned to be less ham-fisted with the throttle.

Just get it on the freeway in 2nd at 75mph. Accelerate hard, shut the throttle and whack it open. At that rpm, the motor is past the meat in it's powerband and there aren't enough revs left to flip it. If I am sitting forward against the tank, don't yank the bars or sit back it will pick up about a foot off the ground and hold it there as the motor run out of steam at about 118. The power is creamy smooth up there, you basically can't screw it up. As you get more confortable, start the wheelie at lower and lower speeds to make them last longer. Once you get comfortable with the bike at the balance point you can Walk The Dog for half a mile without having to shift. Just be careful doing it at lower rpms as the bike will flip itself-there's a lot of torque available at 45mph in second. Also only practice wheelies on smooth, level pavement as going down hill will make the bike want to flip, at some really serious speeds.
You can also try clutching the front end up in third, but the bike won't have enough torque on level ground to ride them out, just gets it up in the are and slows the front end coming down-and you need to be doing 80 or so to make enough power to do that.
All this assumes you are on a '05 or newer bike. Previous ones are a little softer in power. It also assumes that you are running a stock exhaust because part of the engine restriction in the lower gears is done with the butterfly/EXUP/servo valve in the pipe.
BTW: If you are not comefortable with a little headshake, ditch the stock steering dampener. I just ride around it, but some guys freeze up when this happens. You see this a lot in first gear at partial throttle when accelerating as the bike tries to wheelie. It's one thing to have it happen gunning away from a light in your neighborhood, it's another thing to crest a rise at 130 in 4th gear out in the country and go into a full blown tank slap when you need to be braking for the next corner. Trackdays help here too..

Haha I got some decent headshake riding with you on Hines Park at about a buck twenty. The turn was still 1/4 mi away, thankfully.

Man, that restaurant would been awesome with a DD if I was 21. I don't think I've ever seen that kind of a beer selection.

Well, I don't drink (much, if ever) so I'll be your DD next time you come up. I'll skip the Raspberry beer just for you.
Just to get the thread rolling again, here's the replacement NSR80. Should be here in a few days, it left Minnesota on Thurs.
