Today the Pennine Shooting Sports Club held the Northern Service Rifle Championship.
Diggle Range is located North East of Manchester on the edge of Saddleworth Moor.
The range is privately owned and is situated in a valley  at approx 1000ft above sea level.
The range goes back to 1000yds and the firing points are staggered because of the terrain.
25 shooters took part in somewhat difficult conditions (strong winds and some rain).
9 stages and a total of 100rds needed to complete the match.
Here are some pics I took.

There's a story behind these ripped trousers, needless to say, they didn't last the day.

PS, anyone ever wondered exactly how fast a 1.8L Escort can go??
We have it verified on 2 GPS's at *** mph

Next time I might just use watch, move and shoot.

For those of you who don't know, the correct term we use is, "Watch Out, Watch Out"

I should've renamed it Fire and movement

If you ever get the chance it would be cool if you posted over on MilitaryPhotos.Net, it would sure put allot of the Brits over there in their place. They have this idea that only the Military should have access to firearms, as an Ex-Pat and born again gun-nut they seem to think I'm a lunatic.
Anyway I've posted quite a few pics from shoots I've been to and the firearms collection.

Here's a couple of links

Not trying to hijack your thread, just would be cool to have you guys post over there also, tons of AR lovers over there.

No - SGC, but with a replacement cocking handle and new green bits from RB Precision. (The barrel is about 1" dia fluted under the fore-end, and it has a float tube...)

I'm sure Matt(y) will have all the parts you could want though...

Can't remember how long he said it would be - but certainly not that long. Yes, I did keep chasing - but there's only so many times you want to bang your head against the wall...

I checked the paperwork, ordered rifle first week of April '02, arrived first week of August '02... so 16 (long) weeks....

When I finally got it the rear sight was wrong as well - Match A2 sight fitted to a removable handle resulted in a 14" high group at 50 yards. that then took another few weeks to sort!

I should be ok, Got a flat top weaver for my acog! Gonna chase him today, He said it was going well and should be ready by the end of the week, That was last week. Said he would call me on thursday but guess what? Will call him this thursday and if its not ready there will be hell to pay. There is no way i am going to be happy with 16 weeks when he told me 3 and i dont care how far the build process is, I will be demanding a refund if not completed by week 6, That is double the time he quoted me.   Grrrrrrh

Bob seems to like Thursdays. He always tells people they will have it Thursday. Thursday is the only day of the week he visits the post office as well.

Matt had mine built very quickly. Once I'd actually decided on a configuration it was in my hands within 4-5 weeks, which is good going considering I ordered things that had to be specially imported from the US.

Mind, I ordered a 20" Barrel and a 19.5" turned up, bloomin Matt

And Vito's right, Bob seems to think that things brought in from the US are more expensive, not the same or less. He's making a mint on his A.R.M.S stuff, £110 for a $100 mount. He's a bloomin thief. A fat thief....

I just pestered him till i got my Ar, fair enough its nice and shoots well, and at the time he was abetter option than sabre! who where quoting 10 weeks for a barrel then asap after they got the barrel in, i think bob delivered in 8 weeks,

i will be using matt for all other R related stuff though, fat bobs $1 = £2 does my head in,

I think it's time to stop slagging Fat Bob off, enough is enough. He's not a bad guy really and I do like him as a person. As streetfighter told me if it wasn't for Fat Bob most of the UK AR shooters wouldn't actually have anything to shoot. I certainly couldn't keep up with the demand if I had to satisfy all his customers as well. And his products are good, if you think they're too expensive try somewhere else, and if enough people do that he'll soon drop his prices.

A few years ago Bob told me at that time he'd sold well over 1000 AR's. Where are they? They certainly don't show up on the competition circuit, and I doubt many are used for field/pest shooting. So a lot of people have an SGC and just shoot at the local range and never use the rifles to anywhere near their limits. It's a sad endictment of the average British shooter.

Matt, seems like you beat me to the draw again, but this time I'll just leave the post in.

I've decided to "un-hijack" my own thread, so here goes......
Think what you like of Bob but I think this slagging off of him in a public forum should stop now.
We've all had our fun but enough is enough.
Yes he's overpriced and slow at times, but there's nothing making any of us buy from him.
Apart from having fun at his expense, I actually like the guy and there's been many a time where we've shared a good banter.
And remember this, Bob has done more than anyone else to make AR's available to shooters in the UK.
If it wasn't for him, there's be far fewer Black rifles on firing points up and down the country.
He might be slow, but at least he doesn't just fuck you off like Savage does.
To all those shooters who've bought SGC's at inflated prices, ask them if they're happy with their guns.
I bet most of them will say yes

Gawd, combined pro-bob post there!

Stop being better than him then Matt!!

(shit, I'll be waiting aaaages for my lower now )

Little Edit here:

Matt, what would say the percentage of people who bought from Fat Bob, then shot highpower and then bought from Fat bob again actually was?

Not an awful lot I'd reckon, not for rifles anyway.

The ONLY reason bob does so well is because of Savage being worse, and big adverts in Gun Mart.

If people actually had a choice they would go elsewhere. Nobody wants to buy of  grumpy sod who doesn't deliver on time. Customer service like the Americans give should be the way forward, not being grumpy and never answering your phone.
Bob needs to get with the fucking program and find out what 'CUSTOMER SERVICE' means.

Theres MY soapbox......

I'd rather tend to agree with you.  We are an endangered enough species as it is, no sense in turning against each other in public. I've got my own opinions about Mr Bob, but speaking as someone who has spent the last 3 days sunbathing and eating strawberries while reading volumes I and II of 'The Black Rifle' I don't feel like I have got the moral high ground to complain about long delivery times :D

Having come back to this sober…

Yes, it’s right that Bob has done a lot for military type shooting in the UK, by consistently being the only one to advertise and make it known that these rifles are available. He’s even gone so far as to source thick walled receivers to make our milled receivers with cocking handles safer to use.
He has actually done a fair bit.
However, how many people has he turned away from the discipline with his surly attitude, his failure to deliver anything on time and his exaggerated prices?
I’m sure Bob’s losing money hand over fist given the import costs, distribution and he must have people phoning up to complain every day, so he does deserve a bit of a break.

However not only does he take 6 weeks to build a rifle, it takes him four weeks to post a 25rd V22 magazine from Devon to Berkshire.
I’ve seen some very good SGC rifles too, more in fact than ones you could complain about. However, you cannot escape the lack of customer care and follow through in the way he conducts his business.

Maybe it’s just me, maybe I live in the American ideal, but I think customer service is king, and the ways of the old UK gunshop where you knew everyone and sold to your mates is gone. Sorry, but as much as he has done for the sport, it can’t excuse the way business is conducted.
To me SGC is like the American Spirit Arms is to the Americans. Yep, it’s a home grown business, its doing our economy good and maintaining our production, but, and it’s a big but, the owner is a miserable git that has no concept of customer service and grievance procedure.

Might sound a bit harsh, but that’s the way it is, and you all know it.

That would be Guy Savage, who runs Sabre Defence Industries. Sabre can be very helpful if you get the right person on the phone, but they don't seem to be able to deliver a rifle quickly either. To be fair to them they will tell you this upfront .
