Okay, I have video of the event.

Watch the first shot I take with the rifle. I managed to stick the muzzle brake in the wet sand while I was reloading.

Was that the only thing that got messed up?

As far as I can tell yes. After the blow up my shots were still close to where I wanted them- So I'm assuming the barrel is still straight, but will confirm tomorrow.

Damn bro, when the zombies come I'm glad your on our team. Or when the left wingers come for our guns. Either one, either way. So, is it gonna be left winger gun hating zombies??? Or zombies made by some failed military experiment? Although, there are a lot of alien movies coming out this summer, I think they are trying to prepare us for something, so maybe its gonna be aliens instead of zombies. Either way, it'll be fun blowing those bitches away with you guys!!!! And i'm glad your not hurt bro!

That exact scenario scares me. Any thing the real world guys use to prevent this other than awareness?

You can market the new design as a "punch and twist" CQB brake.

Maybe a different type of flashhider.

Something that will not hold the dirt.

Possibly a vortex.

No, still the risk of an obstructed barrel.

I dont think it has anything to do with equipment. It is a training approach.

I recommend the plastic endcap that covers the flash hider (shoot off kind) Obviously only works till that first shot though

You could always smoke the shit out of yourself for a half hour every time you let the muzzle get shoved in the ground like that. I stopped doing it after a while

It's a training issue, mind your muzzle and where it is.

Worse news, there's some actual internal damage, I think the sleeve is warped. So, the whole bolt carrier and assembly is going to the hospital.

This is as far as it will lock up.

On the plus side- quick fix is done.

Extremely, as I tell my roomie- it's practically cheating.

Damn! That's a bummer! Glad to hear that you're ok...
Pretty sure you can cover your muzzle with tape to prevent that in the future. It should shoot right off without damage.
Nice shooting, BTW!

Another way to look at it is now you can get a BattleComp or Vortex!

I think the best solution for me is to make sure I have control over the
long gun before I enter a crouched position. I've finally got my gear
to a point where it's usable and efficient enough for me. I don't want
to have to start from the ground up again, too much money and time.
Sure it's probably not the best solution but for me it's the most practical.

That's the reason I want to get a suppressor on my AR. I dropped my rifle in the dirt during a class (the front sling swivel failed) and had to sit out the rest of that portion (they wouldn't let any one, not even an instructor, disassemble/clean a rifle while active shooting was going on).

Got a hold of Jeff the armorer.

Boxing up the guts and mailing them out.

Hope it's just the sleeve and brake...
