Anybody noticed the gunshow "war" going on in eastern and central Iowa? We've got three promoters trying to put shows on, stepping on each others toes by scheduling shows on the same weekend not that far apart.
Example, this last weekend, Expo Center in CR and the fairgrounds in Davenport. Not to long ago both CR and Maquoketa same weekend. Couple weeks ago DSM Adventureland, Fort Dodge and Panora same weekend. I know people that hit all three. Normally I would say great, the more shows the better. Problem is we have about enough dealers still working shows to make one good one per weekend. Two or worse three shows in one weekend and none of the shows end up worth a damn. The CR Expo show seems to suffer in particular. Last weekend's was more of a junk tool show than a gun show. Coordinate guys. Talk to one another. I know, you probably don't like each other. Get over it. We'll come to the shows if the dealers are there. But I don't really want to have to hit two or three shows in one weekend to get the full effect. |

One of the problems is the greed of the promoters...they get their money by renting tables to whomever will pay and fill up the event and the second is the paying public coming in to the gunshow thinking that it will be filled with tables filled with stuff they want.
Problem is that the warehouse sporting goods stores are putting the small gun shops out of business that frequented the gun shows. So you have the same old dealers going to the same shows over and over with a lot of the same stuff for sale. I agree that there is just too many gun shows grouped together and it makes all of them suffer because of it.

There is a show in Sioux City on November 11-13. It's at the Convention Center, 801 4th Street. Also January 6-8, 2006 in Spirit Lake at the Dickinson County Fairgrounds. -Ryan |

Id like alittle input here guys, I have been thinking of doing the shows this year. What would you like to see that isnt out there here in Iowa?
Im not an FFL but I carry all the major brands and soon to add Rock River Parts to my line. Im also thinking of Investing in a Traing simularor that will be a full 10x6 foot screen with software similar to americas army. Your input is key, as Id hate to be just like all the other booths/ tables. Thanks for any input! Ron www.apexmtn.com |

A smaller show is going on in jefferson march4 and 5th. Went to the adventureland show and it was okay.
