Since 5.45 is cheap right now it will be my primary shooter. *Type-56 Prolly just me, with an AR, AK,SKS,and a couple of bolt actions.... Feel free to use my weapons, But ya will need yer own ammo. I can be there at 0600 am....If ya need me to bring anything give ma a holler, I live really close. *Chris 1. Me and a possible. 2. Noon-ish is probably realistic for me. 3. I hope someone can bring a FAL I've been interested in getting one for myself. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Last year we had, in my opinion, a pretty successful WNC shoot out in Cullowhee last May. I was hoping or a repeat, or better, maybe at the new range in Haywood Co. - unless someone brings FA toys, then we can go to Cullowhee. Anyway, I've got some co-workers who want to bring along some of their guns and shoot my AR15. Thought it would be neat to have a larger group go at some point between now and early September. Thoughts? |
I'd drive an hour for that. God knows I hate shooting alone. Just make sure you give 30 days notice so I can burn a vacation day...or three.
Hey RuinII;
I'm in also, last year was a good time! Let me know when! I have a few more toys than last year. Can we BBQ at the range in Haywood? Class III stuff? |
Sorry for the delay guys, had drill this weekend.
AFAIK, no full auto at the new range. I didn't see or hear anything about other class three though. I don't see how SBRs or supressors would be a problem. Alright, let's try and generate some possible dates. I'm thinking a Saturday will be best, most of us off from work and all that fun jazz. I leave September 11 for Knox, and want some time with the family before then. So, the upcoming Saturdays are: 7/28 8/4 8/11 8/18 8/25 9/1 I'm game for any one of these dates except 8/18, my birthday... so Dinner with the family, party with the friends. I think the 25th might be the best day. Thoughts? Ideas? Bob, I'll look into BBQ at the range, If anyone knows off hand though, please chime in. |
25th sounds good to me but I will need a more firm date by Tuesday so I can put in a vacation request (30 day notice req'd). Thats getting close to the close date on the house but believe me, I would rather shoot for the day than fiddle with an attorney signing papers or pack & move.
I might be able to make it. Just posting so I can follow.
CHRIS |
8/25 works for me.
Keep in mind that in September on a Saturday the range is likely to be full of Fudd's wanting fire their annual 3 rounds before the hunt. |
Good. Looks like the 25th will be fine for everyone at this point who's showing interest.
I'll make that the "Official Date" and see who else we can draw, maybe from the TN, SC and VA forums also. Alright, so... let's get a head count going then I guess. I'll add some stuff to the first post. If everyone who is coming will chime in with: 1)How many you're bringing 2)When you plan on arriving in the AM 3)Guns you're bringing - calibers also 3a)Whether or not you'll let others play too - this way we can buy our own ammo in advance (if you have a preferred brand that you shoot - say through a $$$ barrel). You can note whether or not you'd like someone who's interested to contact you via ARFCOM first. 4)What food/drink you're willing to bring. Obviously we're all smart enough not to mix booze and guns. 5)Interested in camping/after-shooting dinner or drinking. I'll start up top. Oh, I'm going to try and bring the owner of the Maggie Valley Pizzeria along. He's not an avid gun owner but loves to shoot. If you all can tell me in advance what toys you have that you're willing to play with, I might be able to persuade him to bring some free, best in Haywood County, pizzas. Any advanced info I bring to him will only help! |
Start an "Official" thread with a firm date & place, and I'll tack it.
25th looks good to me.
1) myself + maybe one additional 2)10 am 3)338 lapua, 50 L&W, 5.56, 357sig 3a)I will probably have an extra bullet or two for others to shoot. 4)I can bring whatever's needed as far as food goes. I live about thirty minutes away. 5)After shoot dinner type activity sounds good. Waynesville has some decent places for food and beer. Its a pretty nice range. I will try and post up a pic in the next week or two. No tracer type rounds are allowed due to fire danger. |
Smash or Ruin-
Can you get the GPS coords the next time you stop in? CHRIS |
Will do Chris. I have a nifty GPS device now to try out. I'll try and get there at some point in the coming days.
Will updated the roster tonight after work. |
Count me in, could be anywhere from +1 to +3.
Garand, M1A, AR's, 10-22, HK-USP 40, PPK, 22 revolver, SAR-2, and whatever else I grab that day, open for all to shoot a little on my ammo, as much as ya want on yours. Since 5.45 is cheap right now it will be my primary shooter. Dibs on any unwanted barss..... |

Roster Updated.
I'll let this sit a while and see who else will come. |
Go ahead and put me down.
1. Me and a possible. 2. Noon-ish is probably realistic for me. 3. Couple of ARs, suppressed 308 and GAP 7 Rem Mag. 4. Some drinks would be best for me. CHRIS |
1)Me and maybe 1 or 2 (not sure if they are able)
2) I'll be there 10 - 11am 3) 7.62x39, .223, 9mm, .22, 20ga 4) Drinks, or food or both. (Wings, Pizza, Subs, Burgers, let me know) |
So it looks like 1100 seems to be the best collective time for everyone...
Added Chris and Bob to the roster. |
howdy guys, been a while since i've been on arfcom, but i caught wind of this little thing and figured thats just too good of an idea for me to pass up if no one minds.
me and one other maybe show up anywhere from 8-11 depending on if someone else comes or not AMD-65, beretta 92fs, 10/22 (depending), maybe my m44 i'll let shoot people shoot off of me a bit, no problem |
If I can contact the right folks, does anyone object to putting about 30 minutes of work into range maintenance after the shooting wraps up?
The NCWRC is very proud, and very protective of this range as it is the first they have done, doing this would go a long way toward ensuring it and future ranges stay black rifle friendly. I am talking about stuff like target stand maintenance, pciking up trash, etc. |
I don't see any reason we all can't stick around for a little while when we're done. If all of us chipped in, and it seems like there will be a crowd, we should do a lot of good in about 30 minutes.

+1^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ |

sorry i have to back out. something came up with the lady friend. hope you guys have a blast, sorry i wont be there. next time for sure.
I'm on call that day, but usually we know the day before if we'll be needed.
Myself & possibly one. A couple AR's, A couple 45's, A couple lever guns. Maybe a SK or some Glocks. Range is about 45 minutes from the house, so anytime is good. Food Drinks ..........Let me know Clean up\maintenance afterwards..........not a problem. |
I went up yesterday and did a bit of shooting, looks like the biggest need, especially after we finish, will be new target ropes and supports. Right now it is two ropes with sections of wire fence for target support.
I will provide all the rope, if someone else wants to buy some rolls of chicken wire for target supports between the rope (that should work better than the heavy fence they have now I think) we could restring the whole thing. Maybe even add some tags that say "New target ropes donated by the AR15.com Carolina Crew" |
Sounds like a good idea. I'm going to have enough of a problem getting my gun there in the Vette, much less chicken-wire.
Anyone got a truck/suv they'd be willing to throw a roll of chicken-wire in? UPDATE: Can we all plan on being there between 1100-1200? Seems like a good time. Also, I'm going to assume everyone will bring the food they've already mentioned. My boss won't be there, so no free Pizza, sorry. Or... do people want to go out to eat around 1500? Thoughts? |
I'll be a no show, found out this afternoon I have to work on Saturday & Sunday. Something about have to make extra power to run all of ya'lls A\C units during this heat wave.
Maybe next time................. |
Count me in too....I should be able to make it out for this. I won't have any of my toys though ....they're all back home in PA while I'm here at school. Living in the dorms kinda sucks
If I get in tonight while things are still open I will get some chicken wire. Table space is limited. Does anyone have a pop up canopy and some folder tables that they could bring?
Bring bug spray, the last time I was there, there were these little bugs everywhere. Funny feeling getting a sight pic when there is something crawling down your back. |
Sounds good.
I didn't predict weather problems, but I'm at UNCA and we got hit hard today. Anyway, the weather report says it shouldn't start raining tomorrow until well into the afternoon. I'll see what I can throw in the back of the Vette, but probably not much with the guns. :( |
Hey Ruin,
I found a buddy that will swap the 911 for a 4Runner. Hmmmm, I wonder who is getting the better deal. I should be able to bring some wire and cardboard. 215 is awesome for anything with a suspension. |
I will be there around 1045, should be good to stay untill at least 1400.
Or 4wd,If ya know tha trails!!! |
So I was on the way home from work this evening and a tree fell fell on my truck. I'll try to stop by early if I can get the wife's ride.
Now that sucks! |
How bad is the damage?
I was looking foward to seeing you, odds are we know each other...not many Sappers in these parts. |
Got to bail on you guys I have 2 machines down on a job I have to have completed by the 30th, otherwise its $1000.00 a day for noncompletion of contract until its done.
Ouch, looks like bad luck the whole way around for us.
Had the clutch pressure plate go out on the Vette. Needs a tow home. I'm still coming +3 (girlfriend, her brother, and K1Rodeoboater). |
I'm out guys. Have some farm business to hang around for. My wife "took" the weekend for herself and went to a horse show down in Clemson.
Someone bump fire a mag for me. CHRIS |
Did anyone get to go? I hope it wasn't as hot as it is in G'boro.
