I decided to make this post to let all the new members from VA know about the VCDL.

From their website:

The Virginia Citizen's Defense League (VCDL) was founded in October 1994 as the Northern Virginia Citizens Defense League (NVCDL). The group experienced enormous growth in membership statewide and was incorporated as VCDL in May of 1998. VCDL is a non-partisan, grassroots organization dedicated to defending the human rights of all Virginians and, most importantly, the proposition that the Right to Keep and Bear Arms is a fundamental Human Right.

This is truely a great group that works for the benefit of all gunowners in the state. They have made great gains in furthering the pro-gun cause in this state. The membership fee is only $15 a year and worth every penny, and then some. I want to encourage everyone to look into this group, and join if you like what you see.

How about we get a roll coll of VCDL members, that are members here on the site as well.

I recently joined online, but haven't heard anything from them yet.

They usually process all new memberships at one time. When I joined a couple of years ago, I signed up at a gun show in Salem. I think it was late July. They didn't cash my membership check for about three months.

Member checking in. I also coordinate voluteers for the table VCDL runs at northern Virgina gun shows (shared responsibility with another guy, I think he's a member/poster here too). Feel free to stop by and say hello at the table next show. And if you're new (or been a member for a while), working the show is a lot of fun, and you get in the show for free!

I originally joined just to purchase from the CMP. Once I realized all they accomplish, I renewed this year without even thinking about it.

VCDL member since I moved to VA from WA, will re-up in September and sign up the wife at that time. Open carry as soon as I get a good retention holster for my wheelgun. Philip personally answered my e-mail questions about legal issues. hail.gif

I don't know why it took me so long to figure that out as well. Once I started looking at what they have done, I've been fairly surprised at just how strong they are in Richmond. We're very fortunate to have them on our side.

Mailed my check in mid October. It just cleared last Friday.

Thanks Danny and Larry has my money. By the way, am in Warrenton (shh! can't tell ya what I'm doing here or I'd have to kill ya) now and finish here at the end of next week. Then off on a short vacation. And I don't want to mislead anyone, but am retired .mil and active state.gov.
