I need to get out to a longer range.  Is anybody else going to be around on Labor Day weekend and want to shoot on Sat or Sun?

Labor Day falls on the 6th, so I'm thinking of hitting the range on the 4th or 5th.

I'm in the middle of doing a bunch of work to our house.  That's part of the reason I was thinking of going to the range on Labor Day weekend, I can spend a day at the range and still get in 2 days of work on the house.

If everybody is planning to spend their 3 day weekend sitting in traffic going to or from the beach then we can go for the weekend before (Aug 28 or 29th).  The weekend after labor day is BRD and part of the reason I want to get out there is to sight in my scoped rifle before BRD.

I'll be there to zero LRTs bull barrel upper that I'm using with my RRA lower w/some 77gr Black Hills and my muzzleloader Rem 700 for deer season this year and to shoot a little pistol.

9x19 will be sighting in her .338 Lapua for BRD with some 250gr Hornady SPs and to learn the different impact points for 100yd, 150yds and 200yds.

Hey!

By September it should be less than 97 degrees outside...maybe! I need to try out my new trigger set up I recently received. Just post a date that is convenient to everyone...it doesn't make any difference to me.

OK, let's plan on Saturday the 4th.

Meet in Haymarket at 0800 (for anybody who wants to follow others out), and be at the range by 0930  or 1000.

I plan on being there at least til 2, maybe later, so if somebody wants to sleep in you can always come later.

If we make it Sunday LRT can come.  We can go either day.  Want to meet up at the Speedy? at 66W & Rt15?  Isn't that following Monday a holiday?  Want to meet after for lunch (Chinese) w/ARMLT15?

I was thinking maybe the Sheetz, it's harder to miss.

Hell yeah!  Y'all gotta see my Daewoo.  I installed one of those crappy tigger activators and the results have been rather interesting.  It fires one round when I pull the trigger.  It then fires 6 to 8 more when I release the trigger.  I need to dump a few mags like this to get it out of my system then I'll send it to by bin of spare crap I never use again.

OK.... So We are meeting at Sheetz on 15 in Haymarket next to 66 at what time? Is the food run for all or just a few? And are we needing to bring target stands? Any help here would be great

~0800

The Sheetz is immediately south of 66 at the corner of 15 and 55.

And are we needing to bring target stands?

Good point.  Sleepy Creek requires bringing some kind of target stands.  There's usually some 'left overs' on the range but they are often in rough shape.

Everybody can come.  Target stands are pretty cheap at Galyans I bought 4 of the plastic MTM ones there that you assemble (its just 2pcs) and you can use cardboard with them or the blue plastic backers.

Thanks Guys! I have a target stand I'll thow in the truck to bring out there. The old National Park range in NC was like this too except folks would be A Holes and shoot anything that didnt move and leave it there in peices. I have some standard torso targets to shoot at and ill bring some extras as well.

That's what I meant about "'left overs' on the range but they are often in rough shape"  Most of the other ranges are better maintained, I guess because others are USFS while this one is a state management area.

I just called the range manager 304 822-3551 to ask about FA.  He said they make too many large holes in the berm.    Have fun.

Hey!

Sounds good! If your not concerned about sighting in your toys, pick up a case of clay pidgeons. They make challenging targets. If we get a good crowd then we will probably take over the Chinese buffet in Inwood. It ain't the biggest place but the foods been good (so far).
Probably end really confusing the staff!

The clays sound like a lot of fun! I am not a 1 moa kinda guy with my AR now the M-14 is a diffrent story but thats the Mrs. gun, Although she does let me use it from time to time I'll get a case of clays and we can see if we can make them go boom! We used to shoot the little exploding targets at the range those are pretty cool. Enough to make the local Billy Bob's look at ya. Although when we would cut loose with the Barett they packed up and left from under the shelter too! Looking foward to meeting all of you there.Well the Mrs. and my self that is.

I'm bringing my Rem700ML (.50cal muzzleloader), Rem700 (.30-06) my .50 Beowulf sighting in all three for deer season.  My wifes Ruger M77MkII compact (.308Win) and AR30 (.338 Lapua) to sight in for deer season and BRD respectively.  And both our M4gerys and my FAL.  And a few pistols, I still don't know which pistol I'm going to use for 3 gun yet.  I used my SIG 220 last time and shot good but had the disadvantage of having to reload twice while others shooting higher capacity pistols only reloaded once.  So I may shoot a staple gun (my Glock 34) or go for the .45 gusto with my G21 or just use a 10 round mag in my 1911.  I'll be bringing my Benelli M1 if its here by then which it should definiately be.  Need to sight it in for slugs for 3 gun at BRD.

I can bring my AR15 sans upper, but won't do me much good. I will be bringing some .223 and mags, since LRT was nice enough to share his toys though!

Please tell me someone is bringing a FAL that they will let me try on!!!! I'm thinking that will be my next rifle after the AR is finished.
