Ok the the question I have is: IS it still legal in VA to carry openly in public with a round in the chamber and clip in the gun? public means anywhere but where POSTED no firearms like walk-all-overa bank and a few sheeple gathering places like that?

Here is a list of counties or cities that will and will not sign off on NFA paperwork. If you don't see your county and you know how your county works for sure, please let me know.

Chesterfield County-Yes  (Questionable about suppressors)

No question about suppressors, Sheriff will sign.

Clips are those things you put on the bag of chips so they don't go stale.  Handguns use magazines. I did enough push ups back at the academy.... every time some new recruit said  "clip" , the entire squad would have to drop for 25.  Did not take to long for them to learn.

Jeff Cooper once said that "If it is a spring, it called a 'clip'.   If it contains a spring it's a 'magazine'.

Example: An 8-round enbloc 'clip' for a M1 Garand is a 'clip' because it is a spring.  An AR-15 uses a magazine as it has a spring inside of it.

I used to live in Roanoke City.  I had to hound the Commonwealth's Atty to get a signature for my Uzi and M11/9.  I was told at one time I was the only signature Cauldwell ever gave out, but I call BS on that.

Does anyone know if the city of Norfolk will sign off on "NFA" purchases.

Received a sign off in Richmond about a week ago.  Had to wait longer than usual because there is a new legal affairs person that did not know what to do with the NFA paperwork.  The chief will sign whatever the legal affairs people send him to sign.  Getting it to the chief is the trick, but hopefully they are up to speed again.

I can't believe City of Richmond will sign off on that stuff, and Henrico won't.

Guess I need to move back to the city, or form a corporation to buy this stuff.

I ran into the owner of a nice Sterling SMG yesterday at the range. He informed me that his paperwork had been signed by Sheriff Washington of Fluvanna County. So I'd suppose you can add that to the list of counties that will approve NFA paperwork.

Our Sheriff in Nelson County will sign.

At least he did for me last Monday.

First  form 1 he ever signed.  Had done form 4's before.

IIRC, the topics should stay on the server, you just can't search farther back then 3 months. As long as the links are still present, we should be able to get the information.

Doesn't work that way in my experience.

Spoke with the chief of the Hampton PD today. He will not sign off on any Class III items.

"They are a danger to our officers and I don't like having them on the streets."

Thanks for the implication that I am a criminal (a cop killer at that), and thanks for restricting my second amendment rights. I guess m next question is, what are my options now for picking up my can?

Well, you can try to find a Commonwealth Atty to sign.  You can also push your state senator to vote for HB 1978, it basically turns VA into a Shall Issue F4 state.  It overwhelmingly passed the House.  Yeah Baby!
