Any of the above hotels are for the most part first class, the [b]Bellagio[/b] is actually one of the top ten hotels in the world and commands a high price for rooms, but worth it I'm told. All of the above hotels are on the south end of Las Vegas Blvd. (The Strip) and most are within walking distance of each other, these are huge properties so it does take a while going from hotel to hotel, LOTS of walking. Look at the maps at the links above to see where the hotels sit on The Strip in relation to each other.



For [b]DOWNTOWN[/b] hotels I'll offer the following:

[b]Main Street Station[/b] They have the [b]777 Brewery[/b], for beer lovers it doesn't get much better, they have 3 favorites and a special of the month. The food is excellent and prices are low. [b]Main Street Station[/b] has many antiques in it and in fact has a large piece of the Berlin Wall for a urinal in the mens room.

Just a short walk from [b]Main Street Station Hotel[/b] is the [b]Fremont Street Experience[/b], it is worth seeing at night, there are light shows every hour on the hour. The street has a canopy of lights coving it for a few blocks, it is something you have never seen before when the show comes on. [url]www.vegasexperience.com/[/url]

Downtown Vegas is kind of like Vegas was in the 50's and 60's, old and a bit rough. Be careful when walking anywhere outside of the [b]Fremont Street Experience[/b], keep an eye open for trouble. LVMPD keeps bike officers patroling the Experience so it's totally safe there. While on Fremont Street another nice hotel is the [b]Golden Nugget[/b] [url]www.goldennugget.com/[/url]

What's the story with Gun Rentals in Las Vegas? I am eventually going to meet some Commiefornia friends out there for a weekend and they are interested in learning to shoot a little. Any suggestions about where to go? Also I think there are some Full-Auto rentals there. Which ones would you suggest and which should be avoided and why?

I can bring a pistol into NV just no concealed carry and not loaded in a car, right? I probably would not bother, but am curious.

Sometime we gotta get a shoot for out of staters going in that area. I would think with the low airfare and what I assume are gun friendly laws it'd be great place to go sometime next winter.

Aimless, you can have a loaded gun in your car, just not in the city of North Las Vegas or Boulder City...Las Vegas is ok with it. Nevada is a great state for gun rights, the only thing that restricts us is federal laws. You may want to send LarryG36 an IM or an email, he is the resident full auto guy here.

Here is the email I recieved from Metro regarding open carry in Las Vegas. Nevada is an open carry state and the cities can't overrule gun laws. Might want to print this and put it in your car just in case.

I contacted Sgt. Fricker at Metro/DTAC and posed the citizen's question to
him. As with any situation, having more details would have been helpful in
responding. However, this is what was learned. Generally, if a person has
a "holstered" pistol, and has not committed any other offense, then there
should not be a problem. Let me state that we are speaking of the City of
Las Vegas. While I do not think there are any differences between Clark
County, North Las Vegas, or Henderson ordinances regarding this matter, I
would recommend that the citizen check with those
govermental entities to be certain.

In the interest of public safety, if a law enforcement officer observes
someone carring a firearm under circumstances that may seem questionable,
then the officer may approach the person to ensure all is as it should be.
This may include checking the weapon is properly registered. Once again, its
a delicate balance in assuring the safety of the public, as well as the
rights of the individual. If the officer is responding to a call placed by
another citizen concerned about someone carrying a firearm in public, then
it is necessary to contact the weapon carrier to resolve the dispatched
call. Again, if all is in order, the weapon carrier should be allowed to go
on his/her way.

Within the City of Las Vegas, it is illegal to carry a firearm, openly or
concealed, in City parks. Even if the weapon is properly registered, and
the individual authorized to carry concealed, it is still against City
ordinance.

The Aladdin actually treated the Cav-Arms guys like kings, even with a carload full of machine guns. They had firearm check-in forms and they kissed Shawn's ass pretty good...the bad news is they just were bought out by Planet Hollywood and after Linda Rondstat was boo'd offstage they said when they take over the hotel they will have her and Michael Moore sing America the Beautiful together on stage.

I know the Stratosphere still has "No Weapons" signs up everywhere, so yea, try not to stay there. For Bellagio, I've never seen any signs up there, maybe someone else has. Bob
