We're going up to Vail for the weekend for a mini-vacation... any reason I should take my guns?  Are there any decent places to shoot (outdoors) up there somewhere?

There are a lot of places to shoot at/from, it depends on who/what your aiming at.  How far from Vail (Village/Lion's Head) are you willing to travel?

Summit County has a nice free range near the county landfill.  It's across Hwy 6 from Keystone.

There are some good BLM areas to shoot at of you go down I 70 to Wolcot and get on highway 24 to steamboat but take your first left past the dump and go up towards castle rock. The shooting area is about two miles up the road. It is a gravel road and you don't need a 4x4.  Sorry I can't remember what the road is called but you should be able to find it on the map. The summit range outside keystond is nice as well.

Nice.  Frankly driving around for a few hours in the mountains looking for a place to shoot sounds more fun than hanging out in the village too much anyway.  That will probably be half the fun!
