...this weekend.

He is the sheriff from Grant County OR.
He will be issuing CHL's for Oregon.
I've been in contact with him and here is the info I can share with everyone here.

Richard,
We are looking at being in Vancouver on the 14th, 15th and 16th of January....Probably will be a place and time announced later this week....I am in actually typing up a search warrant so if it doesn't drag out all week, I will be there Friday night. Do the CHL's Saturday afternoon. Round Table Pizza place and I can get the address to you later. Please get a few of your friends or co-workers to come....make it worth my trip please!!!! Probably be 1:00 p.m. or so. Till ????? 4:30???

Glenn

UPDATE: Round Table Pizza at 13009 Highway 99 in Vancouver.

2nd Update:
1-3 p.m. Saturday @ Round Table Pizza at 13009 Highway 99 in Vancouver.

I asked what we needed to bring:

Need copies of the following....

two types photo ID....

Application

Proof of handgun safety course

I will photograph and finger print you. Make sure you copmplete the reason for the CHL on the last or next to last page....list self defense as legitimate demonstrated need.

You also need to make a check, money order or cash payable to the Grant County Sheriff $65.00

There is a list of items I think as well listed on the application.

The Oregon CHl will be good in Oregon for non-residents of this state as well as in several other states. Good insurance if you come to Oregon and pack heat under your shirt, coat or in your vehicle!!!

Glenn

The Maryland online course suffices for his training requirement.
http://www.mdgunsafety.com/ - Complete the course (10 mins), print it out and take it with you.

Application - don't sign it till you are asked to :

THERE ARE NO MORE UPDATES. THIS IS IT. FIN. OVER. DONE.

However, if you take the Utah course, I believe it was said, you can use that course as your completed "Saftey class" for the Oregon License.

He got my money.  Easiest way to get a Oregon permit.  No multiple appointment bullshit and when you live in King County, that counts for a bunch.  I think the Sheriff is a genius.

The one linked can be done in pdf or vidio, it doesn't cost anything either way. All he has to do on the pdf is read it. Good link.

The good Sheriff just sent me this:

Round Table Pizza at 13009 Highway 99 in Vancouver.

As far as what is stated on the application, I'm only going by what he told me we needed to bring. He's done this a few times before, so I'm trusting him.
It wouldn't hurt to be overly prepared though.

Is it still Fri, Sat & Sun? Just double checking, it sure would suck to drive over 4hrs one way and miss it by a day.

If you guys want pizza Id recommend the Blind Onion just up the road from round table the pizza is 1000x better.   If you guys don't want pizza we can figure something else out.

Sheriff Palmer did indeed say that that course was god.

He also said that an NRA PISTOL course instructor's certificate or card was good––but it has to say "PISTOL."

Be carefull with the Oregon honors permit, some state would recognize the Oregon permit but only if you are a resident of OR. YMMV

Nope I was glad to help fund the purchase of a finger print scanner for the department. You guys won't have to get inked like I did the first time they came through.

Me too.  OTOH, it beat the hell out of travelling to Orygun to jump through those hoops.

And I have described the experience as Sheriff Palmer realizing that, if he thought of a CHL as a commodity...
