Fall 2010. Handgun, short range. Order target deadline: September 22 2010 Return target deadline: December 21 2010 This is our first match, so we'll start with a brief outline- Each match will be unique. Distances, times, firearms will all change with each new match. To participate, send me an IM request, and I will give you a mailing address to send a SASE to. I will return the target(s) to you to shoot at. Return the target(s) to me for scoring by the deadline stated. Scores will be posted in this post, ASAP after the target return deadline date. Any questions can be posted here, or by sending me an Instant Message/email. Suggestions for changes or future shoots can also be handled identically. Let's roll! Weapon: ANY handgun. Revolver, pistol, airsoft, singleshot, etc.. Cartridge: Any Sights/optics: Any Time limit: None Clothing: Daily Range: 10 yards Rounds: 5 per target Rules: No rests, one or two handed grip, standing. No leaning or other aides allowed. Targets: You will receive two targets for this shoot, (specify if more than one shooter per household/mailing). Return the best one, or both if you are in doubt. Target description: One circle, approximately 2.5" in diameter. (Circle will be um...shaded ) Scoring: Rank, based on group size. Cost: Three postage stamps and three envelopes. Participants: Any. All eligible. You MUST put a name on your return target so it can be matched. (Screen name, nickname, real name.... whatever you want posted with your results) ETA Groups are measured outside to outside at the extreme edges, then the bullet diameter is subtracted from that measurement. So be sure to include the caliber used. (written on target before returning) |

IM sent.
So you want us to send you 3 envelopes and 3 stamps along with a SASE? Up too late and too many hours at work. These simple things are confusing me. |
Miss Alaska and I are in. IM sent. Unless Miss Alaska happens to outshoot me then it will be just me.

One more request- Be sure to specify caliber in writing on your target. (Groups are measured outside to outside at the extreme edges, then the bullet diameter is subtracted from that measurement) I'll put a place for it on the targets, as a reminder. |

Quoted:
IM sent. What size envelopes? ditto. are the targets 8.5x11" or do you want bigger envelopes and extra stampage? |
In IM sent. How many times do I have to stomp on the envelopes?
Regular envelopes please. 8.5x11" cheap copier paper targets, folded twice.

OdT, I'm glad your putting this together and appreciate your efforts. Is the input stage past? If it is, read no further.
If it's not, do we need three months to shoot a target? Could we do it in a month, leaving more time for more shooting and or less time waiting on results? |

Could we do it in a month, leaving more time for more shooting and or less time waiting on results? I'm glad you asked. Monthly matches would be more to my liking, but I honestly didn't know if that would be too frequent for you guys. Figured somebody would speak up if seasonal matches are too infrequent. Well done. I'll listen to others opinions for a few days, and maybe we'll make a change if there's enough positive interest. Please chime in all. |
I think that after this one we should go to monthly. I say after this one because I just got a job and need to save up enough to buy a real pistol again to actually compete in this one.
I like the idea of monthly. Nothing says you have to compete in every months... but you can if you have the time.

IN If I shoot one of my Webleys, can I have a handicap? If you want to handicap yourself it is up to you. What were you thinking, you wanted to shoot with a blindfold, standing on one leg, gangsta ??? Personally, I think shooting a Webley would be enough of a handicap,............................... but to each their own. |
Quoted: IN If I shoot one of my Webleys, can I have a handicap? Given recent events.... You can shoot from a wheelchair. |
The excuses start right ...
HERE ––––––––-> First two targets are in! The kid & I shot ours tonight. The good news, is that nobody in their right mind will accuse me of cheating. The bad news is that not shooting enough in recent years is a really crappy excuse for shooting poorly. The kid did pretty well for being very new to handguns. (Maybe the tenth time he's ever shot a handgun in his life) Not quite up to pinkerdildothanyours's standards, but ok all in all. Me? Well, you guys have nothing to worry about here. |
I'm in for an addy.
Derek, did you use the 10 inch barrel ruger? |
Quoted: I'm in for an addy. Derek, did you use the 10 inch barrel ruger? We both did. Very forgiving pistol. But it didn't make up for my laziness. (or for being past one's "prime" ) A few (several) rounds of practice would have helped, much. But my kid is learning here, and I'm teaching him to sift through "utter bullshit". If someone here cheats, he'll know it in his heart or want to challenge it, and then I've done my job correctly. The rest is gravy, and good entertainment too. Luckily, He's here for the whole weekend |
I'm gonna be using the one you modded. I actually have some eley prime but I have not shot the damn thing in a year.
Quoted: Still waiting on the address to mail the envelope to. I just forwarded you a copy of the reply I sent you on 9/3/2010 5:03:26 AM PDT. Look for the part where there's a name, some numbers, a street named after a tree, a city, a state you've probably been to, and some more numbers. |
Quoted: I'm gonna be using the one you modded. I actually have some eley prime but I have not shot the damn thing in a year. We used CCI mini mags, since the frequency of required cleaning is substantially less intense with that stuff. But target ammo certainly does make a difference, even at that distance. Good luck man. |

Anyone in the Tri Cities Area want to piggyback on my postage?

Still trying to decide what gun to use. I thought about using the 460XVR, but figured at 10 yards the target would be turned into smoldering confetti and that might disqualify me.

To each his own I'm thinking less is more. (S&W Model 66, 6 inch with Target sights and trigger and a trigger has been fully tuned by a smith, 148 gr HBWC target loads for easy to measure holes) |
