I am looking into putting some glass on my SIG716 and specifically looking at the Nikon M308. Does anyone have anything to say about this scope? What did you put on your 716 or would you recommend putting on it? Lastly did you change out the flash suppressor for a compensator and if so which one and what was the results. Thanks

When I first got my 716 I borrowed the Trijicon Accupoint 1-4x from my 516.

It's a great scope on a 5.56 and was OK on the 716, but I wanted a little more top end magnification to better take advantage of the increased range of the 7.62 round. When I saw the great accuracy potential of the 716 I kind of jumped too high and put a big Leupold MK4 6.5-20x50mm FFP M5 on it.

I could shoot sub-MOA gorups with it, but it was too much scope for the 716. It is a patrol carbine and not a DMR. I still wanted a little more top end magnification than the 4x but didn't want to go too high on the low end to where it wouldn't be good for closer in targets. I ended up trying out the Nightforce 25-10x and it seems to be perfect for the 716 in my opinion.

So I played the whole Goldilocks and the 3 bears (rather scopes) routine with my 716. This scope is too small, this scope is too big, but this scope is just right.

The NF above is a great option. A cheaper alternative is the Vortex Viper PST 2.5-10x32 FFP.

I dislike Nikon scopes. They all have a yellowish hue to my eye and most are only 1" tubes. I like Vortex for cost and the new SS 3-15x42 looks nice too.

ACOG in the TA11 family (above is a TA11B) - I like the eye relief on the TA11's
Leupold Mk4 2.5-8x TMR M2

Have had both on 308AR.

Watch overpowering - it is only a 16" battle rifle not a precision rig
