Even with buying Bullets at $93/1000 delivered, I'm surprised that I'm still only at $0.177 per round to make GOOD .223 ammo.
I use zero for my case costs since I mostly get it free at the range.

Beats the **** out of current OTC prices!

.40-.50 cents per round seems "normal" for commercial brands.

Thanks for the link.

Yep, my 68grn Hornady .223 loads are only hitting me for 18.4¢, my 62grn Hornady .223 loads are right at 11.6¢ and my 55grn pulled .223 loads are hitting me for 7.3¢ per round.

$0.072/ round.

Using stuff I bought in the late 90's and early 2000's

pulled grade 3 bullets  15$ per 1K
primers 20$ per 1K
powder 45$ per 1K
brass free range pickup at the local machine gun shoots(now those shoots are few and far between, and they keep their brass)
so i figure 80$ per 1K
i wish i had bought more cheap surplus powder...

The price of primers is really driving up reloading costs.  Right now I figure it costs me about .26 per round.

$0.20 for brass - ($300/1500, PPU primed brass from Wideners)
$0.11 for bullets - ($539/5000, 75 gr mil-spec from Wideners)
$0.05 for powder - ($118/8 lb, TAC from Wideners)

That's $0.36round, $7.20/20 rounds, $18.00 /50 rounds, $36.00/100 rounds or $360/1000 rounds for match quality ammo.  There's the residual value of the once fired brass, that reduces the real net cost so this is actually the upper bound on cost.  These are today's prices, as I just took delilvery of these items this week.

If one assumes you can get 10 reloads from the brass, the cost goes down to $0.20/round or $202/1000 rounds.  This is probably the lower bound.

I have a bunch of components I purchased over the years.  I don't need to use the PRVI stuff.  I can use Hornady bullets and Winchester primers and reload for about $0.25 per round.

That's still beating the crap out of buying factory loads.

HUH?  Are you really paying $26/100 primers?  That's equal to $260/1000 and $1300/5000.

Buying components today it's about  17 cents a round.

I forgot to add this, above.

I pay $0.20 to $0.36/round.  Loaded ammo of comparable quality costs about $0.50/round, maybe as much as $1.50/round, if you can find it.

That price differential means a reloading set up will pay for itself in just 1,000 to 3,000, depending upon how much you spend for reloading gear and for the ammo.

15.5 pennies per

range pick up brass

$0.17 A Round.

That's @ $139.99 for 8lb Jug of H335, $29.99 for 1000 Primers and $80 for 1000 Hornady FMJ-BT 55gr Bullets.

I guess for good measure I could had $0.02-$0.03 per round for cases that I have bought, Powder that I drop, etc.   But Even at $0.20 a round it's cheaper than commercial ammo.

12 cents a round.

The most I have paid for bullets is $75/k, the least, $50/k

Primers range from $2.50 to $ 3.50 per 100.

Powder right at 95$ a pound.

Brass is free.

Equpiment... Lets not mess up my 12 cents per round figure.

tell me more about these pulled bullets.

There were some available 4-5 yrs ago from Pat's in that price range as I remember.  That's the same time when the grade 1 pulled bullets were $17/K.  I was late to the party so I paid $22/k for grade 1 pulled 55grn bullets.  Except for the thin black tar like film that rubs off them when you handle them, mine look like new bullets with only very faint marks where the bullet was seated in the case.  BTW, I'm down to my last 14,000 of them.

I won't mess with machine pulled bullets.  If I can be under $0.20 per round to produce with new bullets, there's no motivation for me to tinker with pulled.

I'm still at $0.13/rd for 55gr FMJ,  $0.145/rd for 62gr FMJ or $0.095 for pulled M196.

Nervously eyeing my primer stockpile though.  I'm good for awhile... but long enough to wait out this current shortage?  Dunno.
Sure as sh*t ain't paying these gouged prices!

I'm at $0.16 per round.

I also just bought 500 brass with a Cabelas gift certificate I got for "doing great work" at my job...  so I'm not counting the cost of that any more than I would range pickup

Wonder what all the liberals at my office would think of the fact I can use awards for gift certificates to buy gun stuff at Cabelas... wish I get Larue gift certificates from them

It changes to sometiing like 20 to 30 cents with the new super crazy prizes.

Like said above, I literally searched though my used primers and found at least 200 live ones. Carefully watching the count.
