Everything is looking good. Cannot wait to hear the prices on this stuff, especially the magazine.

Gol-dang.
HK is getting the crap end of the stick on this one. Now to start saving nickels and dimes... I want one of the new ones... Especially the pk... sbr, here I come. You guys have done a stellar job. Gotta get a cupla drum mags too... that'll really fry my brother's brain... he lives in Kalifornistan. |
Sweet I am glad we got such a fast response Chris. Keep us updated.
Any chance the Picatinny rail and mag release will work on existing GSGs? Wish I would have waited on buying 6 22rd mags. I really want that drum
Great news!
So there's an upgrade kit down to the older GSG. But for those of us with the older generations, is there an upgrade kit up? |
SSWWWEEEEEEEEEEET! Finally prayers have been answered! Drum mag baby! That is awesome news! Hey Chris are these drum mags coming on the same expected 2nd quarter arrival time as the guns? Or maybe sooner?
They did a fine job of making it different, yet still keeping it cool !!........very nice !!
Most of the changes are for the better anyway........... |
FANTASTIC, FANTASTIC JOB chris!!!! The changes absolute spit in HK's face.......those idiots only improved the GSG, rock on brother!
Congratulations Gentlemen and Ladies! Very nice work! And thanks for the detailed and timely write-up.
I like both - upgrade/downgrade, this makes it tough! I'd like to take on some of the new features on my GSG5. Well done - ATI is going to get tired of hearing this!
I got to get me some drums I can only imagine how heavy my pistol (5k) would be with a 110 round drum. Chris have you got to handle one yet? How dow they load? |
SWEET!
I'm down for some drums and want a light weight model too. I still love my anniversary GSG and it's still been flawless and accurate but was worried about parts down the road. Funny you called then the 522 (like my Sig) Thanks for the report and STICK IT TO H&K BABY!!!!!!!!!!!! (SIDE WAYS! ) |
DANG, I just picked up my GSG-5P today. I like the new versions better!
Chris,
EXCELLENT, especially the drum mag...I can only assume it will work fine with the Gen 2/3 existing GSG's...Best of luck at the SHOT show!! |

there are some "challenges" with the existing mags. if the drum works near-flawlessly and is priced right, i'm DEFINATELY in for getting one. and i'm GLAD i never even thought once to sell my gsg.
personally, i like the original better. actually, i take that back. i cannot stand firmly behind that comment as i have just about completely altered the appearance of mine with aftermarket parts. all of which "should" hopefully still bolt onto the new design. so in the end, i can purchase what i have already and come out spending less as the complete gsg is claimed to have a lower MSRP. good job ATI! glad i'm still aboard. |
I still want the fatter can and rubber handguard that was sold on the original SD version of the rifle...Do you have those available in the parts or replacement parts inventory
Looking good, but I hate to say it but the little changes make me not so interested. Mainly the sight and rail. But, it is better than nothing.
Will it be legal if you sold kits separately that converted them to the look of the original? Looking forward to a new .22 rifle, if one ever comes out. |

As Chris stated earlier in this thread and I quote: "All the things you need to change your GSG522 back into an MP-5 Clone (note, only for end user use, dealers, don't do it cause H&K will sue you)" Pretty much sums it up! |
As long as there's still plans for the SD kit or some way to do that with my Gen2, I'll be happy... the Drum is just icing on the cake then.
Oh hell......Here goes my saving account........MUST HAVE 1...EA...
By the way in case Chris forgot to mention, that rail that comes on the GSG-522 is removable if you don't like it or want it, it comes with the gun but it's not built permanently onto it.
Yes, that is correct that the rail is removable. Some other tid bits of info from Michael at GSG upon seeing your responses (for which we all gratefully thank you), the new light weight versions of the GSG522 and AK-47 have a strong polymer receiver that greatly reduce the over all weight of the gun. If you're liking the rotary magazine but concerned about the weight, Michael says a fully loaded rotary mag in a light weight still gives the GSG522 a slightly lighter feel than the original style with a standard magazine. More constant shooting with no arm ache is a good thing. Michael has also said that we will discuss the possible upgrade for the old GSG to the GSG522 at shot show as an accessory. I will definately be bringing up the status on the SD conversion again as well when we see them to see how that whole thing is coming along.
GSG522 excitement aside, wanted to let you guys know too that we have finally gotten everything finalized with ATF on the 1911. We are green for importation of them, so once GSG starts pumping them out we'll start getting to the shelves. |
When will we be able to get our hands on one? or two...
The 1911, I'm hoping we'll do a shipment of guns and mags for February. The GSG522, at this time, I'm guessing second quarter, maybe March if we're lucky. We have all 13 variations at ATF for testing still but the tester was here last week about the AT94 series and he said everything with them is great. Once we receive the documents from Firearms Tech Branch saying the guns are hunky dory, I then have to submit to import in quantity. That form has to run it's course through the ATF Firearms & explosives imports branch for approval, which can take anywhere from 2 to 6 weeks depending on how backed up they are. Once it's approved, then we're green lit to start shipping containers. So, as you can see, GSG and ATI have this in full swing to the point where we don't have control over the timing anymore, it's all on ATF and their schedule. Same goes for the rotary mag, they have not stated whether they want to test one yet or not, if they do not need to test one, we may be able to start bringing those in in February. The rotary mag will function with GSG522, original GSG and GSGAK. |
The rotary mag will function with GSG522, original GSG and GSGAK.
Will the rotary mag work with the "OLD STYLE" GSG-5 & 5PK?....... |
Chris, are there any other differences outside of cosmetics on the GSG522 vs. GSG5 Internals etc
It looks like that new cocking handle will move it farther away from mounted optics which is a GOOD thing!
ATI... congrats on the smooth transition to a "new" product. I know that thousands of new ATI customers will continue to enjoy the fun of shooting the GSG-5/522 platform over the coming years. And it's so nice knowing that a company's staff is so active and responsive in a gun forum. You're like family.
And yet... I'm a bit sad that there's no unveiling of an all-metal MP-4422 for this year's Shot Show. Maybe next year.... sigh...... |
110 round drum! Sweet. Any chance you would produce these with M16 or 10/22 towers?
Thank you, Matt |
Could you PLEASE make an AUG copy in 22lr? My kid wants one so bad! ,,,,,,OK, me too.
It would sell like hot cakes. |

Hehe no there will still be girls, don't you worry. I haven't started casting for our next model yet, though I have heard your requests for a "girl next door" type and will therefore be deviating from my usual style which leans towards dangerous looking women in skin tight latex clothing

So, you know, that's OK, too. We can still order GSG-5 parts now, right? I need a new safety and want to new "lower." |

I see in Chris's post its says " Michael has also said that we will discuss the possible upgrade for the old GSG to the GSG522 at shot show as an accessory"... Does this mean you can get your regular Gen 2 rifle converted to the new configuration?? Thanks |

so do the rotary mags work with the original generation of GSG-5s?

Outstanding news! Thanks for also handling the pistol logistics upstream.
