Well I don't know about it. I wouldn't think that was the process. I don't know anyone with a full auto gun. I have no clue. That's why I am asking the question...

No full auto or burst guns can be made for the civilian market past 1986.
Get ready to fork over $16,000 for a full auto M16 made before 1986 if your state allows it. The cheapest full auto guns run around $5,000 or so. |

I believe you must first be sure that your state allows the possesion/ownership of machine guns, then you can purchase a registered drop in auto sear for you AR. You must purchase a $200 tax stamp and file a form 4 with the ATF. The RDIAS will cost you a significant amount of money, at least 9k

There was a challenge that made it to SCOTUS. Defendant died in jail by the time it reached SCOTUS, so SCOTUS says "nobody argued the issue of blah blah blah" and left it lay. There have not been any SCOTUS NFA cases since, and the irony was that in that case - the Miller case - SCOTUS said that the argument the defense didn't make was saying that the weapon was the sort commonly used by the military or militia, or that it had utility for the same. If it comes up again, who knows. |
