Does anyone know some good web resources for getting RAW data on the number of people buying guns (both handguns and long guns)?  Also a history of gun laws in the 20th century?  I am doing a paper on trends and need info thats not colored (pro or con).
Thanks

BATF keeps records on how many NIB guns were sold. These will be a couple years old, though. As far as law history, the NRA site would be a good start. There's practically no Federal law prior to the 1933 (or so) law that regulated full auto guns. Al Capone & all that. One could buy full auto through the mail!!!! Ah, imagine that today?
Then from 1933 (or so) skip to the 1968 Gun Control Act after the Kennedy/King shootings. This required serial numbers & banned mail order sales. Then jump to the AW ban of 1989. All those are Federal laws, NYC passed its infamous Sullivan Act which outlawed handguns in private owners hands. Hope this helps.
