It is going to be made in the U.S.
It will be available to Civilians. It is going to use M16 mags. It will not be exactly the same config. as the military rifles. It probably will not be called Tavor. |

Does the grip "loop" enclosure that comes around in front of the grip satisfy the '94 AW bill, or is it going to be "bastardized"?

If it is manufactured in the USA, then YES, it can have up to one "evil assault feature", so the pistol grip STAYS!!!
It can't however, sport a flash hider, but Im sure Kurt's Kustom will be busy providing Tavor owners with the next best thing! I better start saving now!  |

IIRC they have a reversable bolt, you switch the block to the other side and rotate it, and volia, lefty firing.

The Tavor-21 ejector port can be swapped to a L-side eject config. in the shop. I have read that its 2 basic "flaws" were that it doesn't have a case deflector to accomodate ambidextrous use, and it has no dedicated iron sights, instead relying on the Isreali MARS optic (Which, I think, has its own back-up irons). Given the MARS's built-in irons, I don't have much of a problem with the gun lacking its own. I'd be willing to spring for a MARS, for the sake of authenticity. However, the absence of any sort of case deflector seems to be rather stupid (tm). These criticisms aside, however, it seems to be an otherwise excellent design, and I've heard that it's ultra reliable. If anyone of influence might read this thread, please don't water it down into some thumb-up-the-a$$-hole stock, proprietary 10-rd. mag-only, "You-can-have-any-color-you-want-as-long-as-it's-pink", knock-offeinstein monstrosity. Let's keep our fingers crossed. "Make mine a double (barrel)"

true however when these types of guns comply to our new commie gun laws they generaly suck. The vepeor or any recent import ak,muzzle breaks and any variation of the butt hole stock come to mind (thats my opinion anyway). but if they import it as pictured minus flash hider i can live with that |

If they make a butthole stock by connecting a small piece of plastic to the front of the magwell we could keep the flash suppressor. Of course, that's assuming that the current configuration can actually be called a "protruding pistol grip." It looks cool, but it'll be like the SL-8, overpriced and low-utility. In an effort to be PC and not have the fear ninnies bitching they'll probably put a single stack feed system into the rifle.

Wait, you guys are telling me the Tavor is coming?? The Tavor is coming?? Holy cow, I need more money. I just hope it doesn't turn out to be a SL8. Thank God they are opening a facility in US to build this thing. I am willing to for go the flash hider for the rest of the gun remaining untouched. I figure somebody will make something cool for it. Besides, I am still praying for the 94 bill to sunset.
BTW, anyone know a time frame on this?? |
