I have a Springfield 1911A1 loaded can I use +P ammo in it safely?

Pilot errors aside, it is safe to use +P in a Springfield. It will put more wear on your gun as can be expected.

The real question is why? Most commercial "defensive" ammo is more than adequate to shift the effectiveness  back to the shooter's shot placement. I'd much rather have quicker follow-up shots than the extra power +P would provide.

Thanks. I was just curious. Had heard about +P and just wanted to know if I could use it. I am not concerned with the knock down power of a .45. I am sure it will do the trick.
