The last time this thread came up, it was determined that the average ar15.com member keeps :

gi cleaning kit
cash
condoms
a fifth of liquor
first aid kit
fishing kit
spare ammo
ar-15 tools
spare firing pin, extractor, and a spare bolt
maps of their AO and their bug out location
a couple of mre's
a rain suit
spare socks and underwear
and a pic of your girlfriend

Me - I can barely get the door closed with just a cleaning kit in there. Don't know how you guys do it. Embellishment I suspect.

In my A1 stock I have an Otis M16A2 cleaning kit (including the CLP bottle) minus the bore light.  But I added a few patches and spare set of foam earplugs.

My M4 has a trapdoor pistol grip where I keep a small bottle of CLP and a spare set of foam earplugs.

Cleaning kit (GI but w/o the case), bulk patch material (rag), spare bolt (headspace checked), spare firing pin, trigger springs and pin, hammer springs and pin, extractor, gas rings, ejector pin, plunger and spring, cam pin, firing pin, small bottle of CLP.

Needless to say, I cannot fit any more junk in there.  A Ray-Vin weight takes its place on the range to balance the cuff weights.  12 pound rifle with weights....

9mm hollowpoints for weight (who needs those lead ingots anyway?) and to throw at enemy when I run out of .223 ammo.

I don't have anything in mine.  But I do like the idea of putting a couple of sets of ear plugs in there.

What the US Army foresees that should be inside the buttstock compartment?
I am sure that in some Field Manual such a thing there is...
