Any new word on this new caliber?  Any new rifles coming out featuring the caliber?

I have heard that dealers can't keep them in stock, so what is the deal?

The big deal would be about another 300 yards of effective range.  Sometimes 300 yards makes a big difference.  You get more power than a 30-06 (almost as much as a win mag) in a compact package.  AR-10s can be converted to that cartridge - Tromix will probably be first.  You could also convert a robarms vepr in 308 but accuracy would be the question.   In a bolt gun the wsm rocks as far as accuracy and distance.  This is the ticket.  Also less recoil than a win mag.  Good luck.

ArmaLite is working on a .300 Remington short magnum version of the AR10.

It should be sweet.  I want one!

Where can I find more info on this cartridge?  Is it 300 Win Short Mag or 300 Rem Short Mag?

The round I'm talking about is the 300 WIN Short Mag.

Guys:  I'm looking for something in a bolt gun.  When is Remington going to come out with the 700 series?

Remington may never come out with a .300 WSM gun. Winchester and Remington both came out with new cartridges about the same time that have about the same ballistics, both are .30 caliber, short, fat, beltless magnum cases.

Right now, Winchester and Browning sell .300 WSM chambered rifles.  Remington (and I'm guessing a couple other companies) sell the 300 Remington SA (short action) Ultra Mag.

Personally, I'm waiting to see which one catches on before I buy either caliber.  Now if they'd just hurry up and decide :)
