Mine pales compared to the one above, but here is a quick shot.
I picked up a early gen 3 NV monocular that had an adapter to mount it to my Canon XSI. So I took a picture to capture what it looked like with and without the NV monocular. This pictures is pretty close to what it looked like sitting in my backyard. But is was just a tad lighter to the naked eye. 
The lighting is reflected off the neighbor's house from the other neighbor's to the right, which you can't see in the picture, porch lights (about 100 feet away). Now add some night vision. It isn't as clear as I had 3 different manual focus to get all ligned up: 
This gives you an idea of what a low end gen 3 night vision monocular will do. It is very fun and I am extremely happy that I picked it up. |

No, that is my backyard. I wish I had a tree in my living room. I will eventually have a Spanish style home with an open courtyard with a tree.

Hot, some what hazy night at 2 AM. First 2 pictures show the Surefire M952V white / IR LED weapon light in use. Other pictures are out to 300 yards in a field. Older PVS-14 attached to my Sony camcorder with the mentioned Surefire M952V.

Too bad that 80% of the thread pictures cannot be seen :(
My contribution to this thread: ITT F9810 (mil PVS7) First 2 pictures were took in a very dark room. basically i could have stepped on the fat one there with minimal chance to see any part of him. Fortunatelly, i know very well where he sleeps. 
The next pictures were taken in urban environment some in quite dark, some with different lights. 
To this moment (time might change this) i found out that this potato/canon/shit manages to take usable pictures set on: auto mode, no flash, and macro ON. What is really annoying is that most of the time i cannot see 2 pictures with the same "color"on them. Will try harder. |

thank you. i should thank David for these (one of his posts helped me to understand how it should be done; while i was trying with my phone like an idiot)
and you should keep in mind that i did over 60 and those were the only ones good enough to post :( the rest were shaken like an old fart in a cold winter night. still working on my technique for a better shot-to-shot improvement but became quite obvious i need a tripod for my nvg. this week i will try to hit the darkest forest i could find around me (there are several) to see how it behaves there. i will try to take some pictures there too. edit: sorry Hard_ware, i just saw your questions: canon powershot A550 no tripod yet but i am working on it :) |

Drove across the border to the free state of Texas for a quick night hunt. Called in one within 5 minutes, pretty sure I missed. Two more came in 10 minutes later, ran right passed me at 10 yards, killed the first one while the second one slipped into the tall grass. It kept barking about 50 yards away and I finally got a clear shot through the grass, not sure if I hit it either. I tentatively looked but didn't feel comfortable walking through that waist high grass in the dark with a potentially wounded/dangerous animal lurking in the midsts. I'm going back down there after work to search the area. I doubt I'll find anything. I need an IR illuminator.

S3 returns :)
I have managed to make a more portable "rig" to use my phone when i go out for pictures. As i said previously, my phone was doing shit before that. Still not in the same class with the results from my potato/shit/canon but at least are usable pictures now and i don't have to carry the whole shitload every time i need a picture. Worse thing about S3 is that you can lower the EV just to -2. Would have been great to have -3 or so...

very nice pictures! much better i can tell, as per exposure, well there are two apps on Android that could help you, plus some settings in original app. you can try increasing brightness to the max, and using max iso, or just switch to night shot, but i dont think those will work that well
there is a "night camera" - orange pumpkin icon, its an app that can take long exposure picture, or can take 8 pictures in a row and combine them, but those apps are going to be too powerful and will make bad pics, but try them anyway i might be wrong - there are settings you could mess with another app is called "Night Vision Camera" there is a few of them but only one works well and its the one with black binocle with green lenses on deep BLUE background this app does not increase exposure, but it actually amplifies the light, probably works like gen 1 night vision other night vision apps have exposure value, but it would only be useful for pictures and not actual navigation/video the night vision apps will not take high res pictures, they will be more like screenshots "night camera" will take high res pictures |

without killing this thread i can say in few words that i am an android expert.
none of those applications will do any good as i know all of them already. what i need when using my phone is a neutral filter between the ocular and the phone. but as i said i am fine with it now:) |

you should switch to video mode, black and white, and shoot in nice black and white ;) make videos! this thread needs to stay alive, people are getting lazy, when i get my unit i will make a new picture thread ive been keeping on my mind, it will be fun

yup, i might shot a video sometime.
as for the BW, no thanks. for me NV it is (and will always be) green. I really hate BW in terms of NV (call it taste). B/W should stay on the artistic photography where it belongs. |

My wife looking for deer with the Armasight Zeus 3.
This obviously isn't night vision, but I thought it was cool. I was out at the Special Operations Wounded Warrior hunt and managed to get a couple thermal shots of the guys that jumped in to camp with American flags in tow. In a couple of the pics you can see the stars and stripes on the flag. The image was better in person as it lost some uploading and it is a still shot pulled from a video.

Flock of cows through a Gen 2 WP scope. The scope wasn't weapons mounted and they are my cows, so even if it was...we are all good here.
A deer at around 200 yards with the same optic.

Has anyone tried to take pictures through a NVD with a gopro? Specifically a PVS-14?
I'll be out in the field for a few weeks and wanted to try to take some night pics but will only be taking my gopro out with me. I was thinking of trying to take some pics by putting the camera up to the eyepiece but I won't be able to see any of the pictures until after the exercise is over. The lack of manual focus or preview screen is what concerns me. |
