Recently bought a used 870 Wingmaster. Made in 1983 and traded in from a California government agency.

I was replacing the carrier dog follower spring. Taking it apart and (of course) it shot across the room. I found the spring, the follower and a piece I don't know what is. It looks like a small screw that has had the head cut or broken off. I can't find anywhere on the trigger assembly it could have came from. It would have to have been in the hole (for lack of technical term) with the spring and follower.

This is the video I used for guidance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1G4g432n48

Have I messed up?? Functions fine at this time except the carrier want to ride against one side, may have been doing this before I "worked" on it

Thanks in advance for any help.

You always know you did a good job when you have parts left over

I don't believe that belongs to an 870, at least mine doesn't have anything that resembles that. Almost looks like someone cut down a screw, and that was the left overs.

That is my thought too. It shouldn't be there but I'm pretty sure it was.
