Very good decision, just don't blame the gun if it jams with the factory magazine.  Some Kimber factory mags ara a POS, just pitch it and get some Wilsons if you have problems.

You've got one helluva pistol there, brother.

Yeah, I'm going to check and see how my ChipMcCormick 8 round mags run tomorrow in it, but I still plan on getting those Wilson mags anyways.

Funny, I originally went in to  the gunshop looking for a Springfield GI-A1, or a base model Kimber.  My wallet is hurtin' right now!

You made a smart choice. That hurtin' will soon disappear, the pistol won't. Enjoy!

You made the right decision.  I have the TLE-RL in stainless.  It is fantastic.  Welcome to the beginning of an obsession...

Great gun, great choice! Welcome to the Kimber club.

Glad to hear it ran flawless and that you're enjoying it. Be sure to post pics when the holster and light arrive.

Update -

I'd like to change out the full length guide rod for the traditional setup...I just need a recoil spring guide, use the same Kimber 16lb recoil spring, and recoil spring plug right?

USGI guide rod and plug and use a Wilson 18lb spring

I totally agree with the Wolff 18.5 lb. recoil spring and like the fact it comes with a "free" extra power firing pin spring. As far as full length vs. G.I.  for a guide rod I feel is is only a matter of personal preference. You'll hear G.I., "because that's the way JMB designed it".  I personally don't have a preference and leave it with what it came with.  I have more than a handful of "high end" 1911s with both types of guide rods and if  you shot them you wouldn't be able to tell the difference from a handling or reliability standpoint.

Hi Wave,

Congrats again!

A single piece full length guide rod does not require special tools and disassembly and reassembly is no more difficult than with a G.I. plug.

I put on a GI style rod and plug setup, and it works just fine.

But honestly, its no better or worse than the 1 peice that came with it.

Throw on some gunner grips in CB or black, and you'll have one sexy firearm.

Mine wears CB gunners and an M3x, and its a GREAT firearm.

decided to finally come home with a fullsize 1911.

Yeah I still love my Dan Wesson but....

After lots of soul searching I decided on a Kimber Custom TLE/RL II.
www.kimberamerica.com/images/pistols/summerle/thumbs/CustomTLERLII.jpg

I picked up 300 rounds of Winchester White Box and 100 rounds of Remington UMC JHP's from Wally World, ordered a Bladetech Holster Setup, as well as a Surefire X200B.

Guess I'll load up the mags and break this bitch in tomorrow!

Range report to follow...

LOL!  I did the exact same thing on Friday!!  I went in, saw it, handled it a lot, and then said why not.  My TLE/RL II (my first 1911, but second handgun) is on layaway at the moment but I'm planning on picking it up on Wednesday at the latest.  Its good to hear that you haven't had any problems.  Have fun.
