I have a woody for This, STI VIP in 9. I'm still kicking myself for passing on the last one I had a chance to get for 1250.00. Like 26 oz with the alloy frame. Mags are pricey.

+1 on STI. They have several options in what you are looking for. I have 2 9mm STIs (one single stack, one double stack) and absolutely love them!
If you are looking for other options, SVI also make double stack 1911s, but they are in the price range with Wilson Combat... Not sure of your price range. |

STI with SV mags would be where I would look, If SVI is in your price range them look there.
Don't know how weell a 2011 works with std lgth 9mm as mine are loadded longer to get some more powder room to make major. |

Never once had to tune any of my 40 (sti) or my 9mm Major (svI) tubes for correct feeding. Now if you want to push the limits of the magazine ie 21 reloadable for a 40 then I can see some tunning.
Built right a 9mm 1911 style will function just as well as a 45, key is there are fewer smiths that can build a 1911 style correctly in other calibers than there are smiths that can hack together a 45 1911. |

Look at SVI or Caspian. |

RIA just released a 4 1/4 " 9 MM / 22 TCM double stack 1911. The 22 TCM is a very interesting cartridge, think short 5.56 with 40 grain bullet at 2100 FPS out of a pistol which has the recoil of a 22 LR. Switch barrels and springs and shoot 9 MM. Uses Para P-14 mags.
