lets assume that a 1911 is good for 20,000 rounds.  buy 20,000 rounds and start shooting. count how many rounds you have left, that's how many were shot before you.




seriously, I look for how loose everything is and decide if that gun will fit my needs.  For carry I like a newer gun that I have control of the "wear" for a fun gun just see if you can live with what is there.

There is really no way to tell.  Check the gun out if everything looks good, you should be fine.

Most people do not shoot there guns much at all.
