That's too bad. I find the XD grip way too small to even fully engage the grip safety.

That's the opposite of my problem. The darn Glock .45 is just TOO FRICKIN BIG for most mortal hands. I'm guessing that your sporting a set of meathooks for hands, huh  Disconnector |

Why would they? Do you think the XD in 45 acp with a 14 round capacity is gonna magically fit in a 9mm sized frame? Not likely. The GAP still serves a purpose for those who dont like a handgun grip like a 2x4. |

For those that bought the XD GAP thinking the 45 would never come out will be faced with a dilema. The fact of the matter is that the 45 GAP will always be able to be fit in a 9/40 frame. I dont think one has to posess special powers to predict that 14 rounds (probably 13 in the mag) of 45 acp in any handgun is going to have a rather large grip. |

I'm sure that the grip will be bigger than a 9/40, but it will definitely be smaller than the frickin Glock 2x4 grip. Actually, it loks about as big as the Glock 9mm . . . Glocks have VERY large grips for the size of the caliber. We'll see in January Disconnector |

I won't give any fod to an HS 2000 owner, but those who waited until it was re-badged by Springfield (Not THE Springfield Armory)... well, you know... are advertising fodder. My local springfield star dealer will have 2 of them this week. Springfield won't be making two tones till after christmas. Don't know on the 5"s.

I suspect that what is driving the new high capacity .45s is the military competition soon to come for a new sidearm in that caliber. IIRC they specified it had to be a regular production item.
I have never been a fan of the XD for several reasons (I particularly do not care for the grip safety) but will admit it has proven to be a decent handgun. If this one works out, I just may have to try one in THE caliber! |
