So, you added a dremel tool to your torture-test, huh?
(Ok, seriously....what happened here?) |
No, its a brand new glock. No dremmel. Hack saw and 100 grit sandpaper only. It is now fit with a Glock 30 mag w/Pearce extension. Fits my hand fine, need to run a few rounds through it tomorrow. My other 21 is fine to carry in the winter, but the big fat handle sticks out when wearing a T-Shirt. |
Usually, I hate to see people messing with Glock frames, but I have to admit. You did good. The grip really is the part that sticks out.
For concealability, I think the 9rnders would be even better, although your pinky would be unsupported. |
I take it you have never heard of the G-30? I'm not knocking your work it looks OK but why reinvent the wheel. |
The G30, with the tiny barrel, and no light rail? I wont own a .45 with under a 4" barrel. |
That is sweet...
Provided it runs, how much would you charge for that treatment? Cheers |
I dont know why it wouldnt run? G21 mags work fine in a G30, so switched should around should too. I'm not sure I'd be willing to do that to a pistol that wasn't my own? Anyone can do it themselves. I popped out the sear group pin in a 30 and 20, took a 6" pin and pinned the 30 on top of the 21, and put masking tape where to make the cut. Hack saw and sand paper. I dont think it took 45 minutes. |

Great Job!!!
Wow... that is SO cool if it runs... (and I dont see why it wouldn't) I guess you found a way of doing custom work on a Glock that cant be done on a 1911! Outstanding!!!!! |
Wow. If they built it, we would come. I love that. Sign me up for a Glock 20 with that treatment

+1. Sumpin' tells me that if it works well, you guys at ADCO have another service to list on the menu Rich |

I carried a G30 for several years (also own two G21's). I wouldn't care to have a light rail on a concealed carry piece, and don't have any problems hitting small targets out to 100 yds. or so with my G30's iddle biddy barrel. You did a great job on your G21, thought, and the fact that you accomplished what you set out to do is what's important. You did a really professional job.
That is slick.
I totally get it, took me a minute. The comparision to the G19 is a great reference. Hmmm...... You guys come up with great combos/ideas. |
nice craftsmanship
but chopping up a glock makes the baby jesus cry |
I had no trouble hitting stuff with my 30 either, I just dont like short barreled 45s. On the occasion I'm traveling and only have a "carry gun" I like the ability to snap on a light before it goes on the night stand. I put 200rds of ball through it today with no problems at all. I shot it just as well as my unmodified 21. Also put 25rds of Silver tips without a hitch. I'm much happier with the results than expected. |

My big fat handles stick out when I wear a T-shirt too. My wife calls 'em my love handles. That Glock mod is first class. I have a feeling you'll be doing more, for paying customers. |
Alright, you talked me into it. I have never tinkered with my guns, but I'm gonna try this in two weeks when I get home. What # hacksaw blade did you use?
Cheers |
Did you consider a 4" barrel for a GLOCK 30? BTW, that looks pretty good. |
Did you slowly hack off lenght till the mag fit? Or did you have a measurement that you figured out?
Looks good. |
I set a 30 frame on top of the 21, and put a piece of masking tape across where I wanted to make the cut. Hack sawed it off, and did the final fitting with 100 grit sand paper. If theres enough interest, I think I'll have a jig made that you can insert into the 21 to prevent cutting too much off. Maybe rent it out for $15 with a $100 deposit? |

Anyone know where to find a replacement 4" barrel for the Glock 30? |
I'm sure that KKM Precision, Inc., Jarvis, Inc. or Bar-Sto Precision Machine would make one for you. I once bought a KKM for my GLOCK 29 off ebay that was extended to about 4", and it was ported. I though it was standard length to fit flush with the slide. They guy didn't say it was ported or extended in the description, so I sent it back for a refund. He only gave me a partial refund, and he got negative feedback in exchange. |

Any update on this? Has it still been reliable? I'm thinking of doing this to a G21 and replacing my G30 with one.
The G30 with it's "iddy biddy barrel" has been commonly found to be more accurate than the G21, but of course you lose some velocity.
What's on the spare mag to make it mimic a full size grip? Having that would definitely make this an option I'd consider.

A&G Grip Extention |

That's some nice looking work.
Now if you could get rid of the finger grooves. |
very nice, im always impressed on the ability of people on this site.
I will never be handy with tools |
The problem I've always had with the compact (and sub-compact) Glocks is that the finger grooves on the frame cause my fingers to "bunch up" uncomfortably. The 17/22 and 20/21 standard size frames however fit my hand like they were sweet mana poured directly from Heaven.
I went so far as buying a blue dummy G19 to see if I could dremel away the middle FG and thin up the trigger guard so that my hand would fit comfortably - but I just couldn't make myself happy with the result. I was a little disheartened because the G30 is such an awesome gun – but even with the Scherer grip extension (better fit for my fat mitts than the Pearce), my middle two fingers were always squirming around in the middle of a string trying to find a home. So I gave up on any hope on finding a compromise - until I read this post - Thanks for the pictures. |
For some odd reason this is the case with me. I can shoot a G30 more accurately than a G21. Defintely nice work though. |
