Thats really cool...single action, P7-ish grip safety, fixed barrel, low axis; looks like a winner.

Looks similar to the P232...

ETA...http://blog.predatorbdu.com/2014/01/gunblast-shows-of-new-remington-r51.html

ETA2...  Curioser and curioser, Remington is HQ'd in Charlotte now?!  Heck, their website says Madison, NC and my 870 says Ilion, NY.

Very nice, good on Remington to join the single stack 9 options.  Will be looking for some at the local ranges that rent guns, looks to be a solid pistol and priced very well.

Maybe they're being made at Para in Charlotte under the Remington name. As a Charlottean I'll have to buy one.

I'm interested.

A aluminum framed single stack nine that weighs 20oz and is made in America. With a single action trigger. With a MSRP of less than $400.

Didn't see that coming from Remington.

The video at predetaorbu.com with the factory rep says 9mm now, with other calibers later.

I'm so heavily invested in .40 that I'd like to see one in that caliber.

According to one article, that's coming.

If it seems reliable when it hits the streets, sign me up for a 9.

ETA:Maybe a Remington sub-forum in the future?

This may cost me some money...looks like it won't be much though

At that price point, If it works properly, it looks like it might destroy some competition...Ruger LC's, Keltec, etc.

Why not? What does a single rail do to affect functionality?

I've always wanted an original Model 51, but now, with this modern version I think I will have to spend some money.

Pretty cool for concealed carry. I won't beta test something made by Remington though.

Am I the only one who would like to see them build a slightly larger model as well with a 4-4.2" barrel, longer grip and double stack mag?

Somewhere I read that .40 will be added at a later date.

I like that fact that it is SA, and that the trigger is like a 1911.  Nothing against striker fired pistols, but I simply hate their triggers even with apex kits.  If the P51 has a trigger that feels anything like a 1911, I'm  in for one.

These will sell well. For the love of God, every pistol on the market doesn't need a rail!

I'll have to get my hands on one of these before passing any sort of judgement but those sights and the grip safety are both unfortunate. Everything else looks like a real winner.

Nice gun, but too large to be a useful "pocket pistol."

It's 20oz's and same size as the Shield, LC9, PPS, etc. Maybe there's a reason nobody is copying the size/weight of the PM9/DB9/PF9??????????????

Ugly I can live with though, it SOUNDS pretty good so far.

And for 95% of people, nor is it easy to conceal. Dumb statement, if serious.
