So I was on the phone with CDNN the other day and I ask what the story is on the used 220s with the light rail that they just added to their catalog.  You never see railed 220s used, they just haven't been around long enough.  What's up?  Their rep told me that they were ordered by a PD from Sig and even before they were delivered, the PD got a new Chief who insisted that everyone had to carry DAO.  They tried to cancel but Sig would have none of it and they wound up being used for about 6 months before the DAO replacement guns arrived.  Then the PD sold them at cost to pay for the DAO versions and CDNN is reselling.  I was told they were in pretty nice shape.  Seeing as usually the only way to get a railed 220 is to order (and pay for) a new one, I started reading off my credit card info.  I didn't ask for a hand pick and he didn't offer me one.

So this is what arrived today.



First off let me say that if anyone wants to trade a nice set of factory plastic grips (the ones that say Sig Sauer on them) for these Hogue fingergroove grips, I'll trade them even up.  The Hogues are in good shape but they just aren't for me.  Finish is pretty decent with just a bit of holster wear in some of the usual high spots.  For a police trade in its not bad at all and the sales rep's story certainly seems credible.  Slide says made in Germany but I can't find a German date code anywhere.  I'll probably refinish the slide and those grey grip screws with semi-gloss black Moly Resin, just because I'm a perfectionist.



Night sights glow BRIGHT!  This makes me happy since alot of police trade ins have older, dim night sights.  Its clear that these guns must have been produced recently.  And the best news is, the bore looks unfired.  It can't be unfired because its scratched up on the side of the chamber area where all Sigs rub their slide against the barrel, but it looks unfired.  The bore is absolutely spotless.



M6 light looks right at home, doesn't it?  I think for under $500 shipped this looks like a bargain at this point.  Range report to follow, but its a Sig 220 with a spotless barrel-- I think we all have a good idea of the accuracy potential.

Yeah the $650 is NIB.  

I went ahead and ordered original grips from CDNN for ten bucks.  They came NIB in Sigarms packaging.  Also got some nicer grip screws while I was at it.  Now the 220 feels alot slimmer.  I shot it Saturday at the MODCC shoot and it ran 100%, but I haven't shot a group with it at 25 yards for accuracy yet.

My sights are the same and I wondered why.  Doesn't seem to have anything to do with the tritium inserts.

Yeah, they are still in the catalog.  I don't think anybody has been disappointed.  Since I made the original post in this thread I've fired hundreds of rounds through it.  At 25 yards it hits 3 inches high and dead center for windage, which is perfect for me because I like a low 6'oclock hold.  

I really showed up some deer hunter types with it last fall during deer season.  These guys were blasting away at some water bottles set up against the berm and missing, with rifles!  The usual deer hunter stuff where they had their lever action Marlins with Simmons 3x9 optics mounted on those huge, flimsy see-through weaver mounts, you know what I'm talking about.  And not one of them sighted in worth a damn.  So I'm bullshitting with them as they are shooting at the 25 yard line (my AR is at the 50), and they are bitching that they can't hit the water bottles, so I pull the 220R, select a water bottle at the end the line, and bounce it 6 times out of 8, offhand, standing.  They stop shooting while I'm doing it and when I've had my eight they are just silently watching.  Then I say "maybe you guys should hunt with a handgun".
