I saw one painted yellow with purple flames. I was told it was painted with automotive paint with a flex additve for use on the frame. No idea what kind of prep was done though.

well it says it bonds to "most" plastics...

Did my frame with Alumahyde II in FDE. Holding up great. A-hyde takes forever to cure, though.

here's mine done with OD krylon: just degrease & spray
krylon is not permanent but I dont care and like the "used" look of my G17

Well as a automotive painter I can tell you it was a waste to put a flex additive in it. Thats ment for flexable bumpers and is usally gone in a day or two any way. and in the 8 years i have been painting i have never used it. I have painted lots of plastic both car parts and other stuff. if i where going to do it i would strip it all the way apart and then use a scotch brite pad and comet (we have a special cleaner for cars but comet is a good subsitute) to clean and prep it do it a couple times and use hot water. then you need a plastic adhesion spray (specialty item should be at a paint store) follow the directions but it opens the the pores of the plastic to let the paint stick. and then paint with what ever you want. here is a part for my truck that i painted and it is plastic also http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m114/idminitrucker/DSC00546.jpg oh and painting guns is fun the ruger is the plastic stock and car paint and it is over 5 years old and holding up well http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m114/idminitrucker/DSC00184.jpg http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m114/idminitrucker/DSC00170.jpg |

I sprayed my Rem 597 camo 6 month ago. I used a red scuff pad, bulldog adhesion promoter, omni MPC basecoat (green black & brown), and went over it with regular MC161 clear with a flattening agent in it. I stripped down completely and did entire gun & scope less trigger guard. Use same steps when spraying any plastic items. I used a Sata Minijet by the way, not the develbiss in the background. Its nice having a bodyshop.
